I am in love with a PINK guitar!

Never in my life did I ever give a second thought to PINK as a guitar color but man, after seeing this one on ebay I just totally want it (A bit too pricey though at over $4k lol)

That pink overspray and the relic treatment just screams vintage Mojo to me and takes you back to when tailfins and pink Caddy's were all the rage.

I've always loved vintage white and sunburst, but everyones got those. Who's got a pink strat ?

Or should I say who's got a pink strat that doesnt have Hello Kitty on it ? lol

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

thats got a neat vibe going. the color seems a little too subdued for me, though. that white on green one looks sweet!!

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

When I think of all the beautiful, elegant guitars in the world like '59 LP's, LP Customs, red SG standards, white SG Customs, Lucilles, & all the various models with flame maple tops, and then see these pink, mint green, and powder blue Strats, I just shake my head. Is good taste a thing of the past?

I think Arnold would sum up pink guitars best with a comment making reference to "Girly men."

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

I like it! I've always liked Fender's shell pink on Stratocaster's.

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

shell pink rules. don't listen to bluesman...he's kind of a party pooper. why do people want tabletops and mutated trees for guitars?

lol

I've already already own or owned all of those though (save for a 59 LP of course lol)

I've got a beautiful Burny LP custom, as well as the classic goldtop with p90 style. I used to have the classic black beauty as well as this amazing flamed honey burst.

Did the classic red SG thing for a fews (still wouldn't mind a SG classic in faded red with p90's, thats a cool looking guitar)

Just bought a very flashy bright hot rod red Gretsch with all the chrome parts, total eyecatcher.

Had a nice natural color Riveria, and rather unique blue 335 style guitar as well.

Got the ever so timeless 3 color sunburst start. First guitar I ever owned was the classic white strat with maple neck.

In the 90's it was black guitars all the way. ESP, Jackson and BC Rich. Black hardware, finish, EMG's you name it. ( I had issues lol)

So you see, over the years its all been done. I've had all the standard colors, had bandmates with those same guitars, or see people on stage on a weekly basis with them.

Nothing wrong with a rocking a red SG or a black strat obviously, but its so common and dare I say a little cliche at times.

that pink strat though, its just so uncommon. Shell pink was Fenders least used color after all.

Pink certainly wouldn't work on every guitar. A pink LP or 335 would look darn stupid I'm sure we all can agree.

Same goes for cars, a Toyota Camry in pink looks stupid unless your selling Avon. A classic 57 or 58 caddy (my grandfather had a very cool 58) pulled off pink nicely and it just worked.

Somehow that strat just works in my mind as well. It just looks like its from a totally different time, with a totally different mindset.

Thats real "mojo" to me

The few guitars that I think looks good in a pastel color are a Casino (ES330) or Ibanez AF75. Something cool about a thinline hollowbody in turquoise with white trim. It seems like a throw back to the 1950's. Goes with saddle shoes and girls in tight sweaters.

Still don't know about a pink Strat...

Come'on man, give it a break. The pink fender looks sweet as hell.

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

shell pink would not be my first colour choice but i don't hate it either.... Fender offered that colour on the MIM 60's reissues at one point...

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

The color on color thing with the wear marks and the tinted neck are great but not crazy about the nicks and gouges in the finish or the replicated cig burns.

Certainly to each his own, but I'm pretty sure I'd hate a nice shiney and new pink guitar myself. Got to make it a little ugly to show the real beauty lol.

I'm the same way with vintage cars though. All the stuff guys like Boyd etc make look like over priced garbage to me. Paintjobs worth more than the average family sedan ? Billet this and custom leather that, no thanks

Give me a nice 32 thats build in someones gargage, flat black spray paint and duck tape on the seats but a roaring 327 with a 6 pack under the hood and I'm in love.

I want a rod for crusing the strip, not for putting in some climate controlled garage and getting into magazines

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

There's one with pink that I love...Alexi Laiho's pink ESP V!! Total hair metal axe!!

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

I absolutely love it. Typically, pink stuff seems like it's trying to be ironic, like the stupid "real men wear pink" shirts. However, an old strat in shell pink is just the shiznit.

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

I have a pink Peavey Vandenberg next to me as I type, and I love it to death. Aren't guys actually supposed to like pink... stuff? :D

Here she is with her two other siblings. The pink one is louder and ruder sounding than both the others + is so super light it feels like a toy and the neck is super fast. I consider this the ULTIMATE hair band guitar!!!

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

nobody is sayin (I think) that it is more gorgeous than a totally flamed out 59 LP - cuz it isn't. But it is a very very very cool relic. I'd play it. The look just has so much mojo that you would play better. The whole pick guard, pup cover, paint, fingeborad combo is awesome. If you found a real one like that, you wouldn't bat an eye at 4k.

Pink Vandenberg, or Carvin? Give me a break. Get real.

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

Didn't mean something that looks new like the hilarious Edwards 'relic' guitars with poly sprayed over wear marks but heavy relicing is a bit much for me. Watched that Made in America show where they toured the Fender factory and cringed at the part where the master builders were beating up the guitars with their keys and whatnot.

Maybe if there was (and there probably is) a version not quite to beat up as that one I'd like it more but to each their own. At those prices it's kind of a moot point anyway.

Finishes like that remind me of that Hendrix strat he painted but unfortunately destroyed.

I don't quite see how one's orientation and/or comfort therein ties into any personal choice in favorite color... associating pink with girlishness is a rather recent phenomenon unique to only a few cultures, and if someone is able to see around cultural stigma to affirm their own likes/dislikes, what's the problem here?

Leaving behind for a moment how much I hate the Gibson sound, and also (to be fair) how indifferent I am to Strats in any color, those Gibsons all remind me of my grandma's ancient, ugly dresser drawers and china cabinets, whereas Fenders remind me of my grandma's ancient, ugly refrigerators and cars.

When you put it that way, we're more alike than you think in terms of bad taste, except that some prefer the refrigerator and car tones. Dull, brownish colors are just ugly and 70s to me, not that even ugly doesn't have a place sometimes.

For me it was love at first sight/sound of Jags and Jazzmasters, there's no more elegant, contoured looking shape to me.
