I am in love with a PINK guitar!

Re: I am in love with a PINK guitar!

nobody is sayin (I think) that it is more gorgeous than a totally flamed out 59 LP - cuz it isn't. But it is a very very very cool relic. I'd play it. The look just has so much mojo that you would play better. The whole pick guard, pup cover, paint, fingeborad combo is awesome. If you found a real one like that, you wouldn't bat an eye at 4k.

Pink Vandenberg, or Carvin? Give me a break. Get real.

Being I WAS a hairband guitarist in the 80's-90's I can assure you this one of a kind Pearl Pink 1990 X220C I have is for real!! These things are ULTRA rare and the kings of all things pointy from that era. A good 90-92 X220C will send anything Jackson did in that era runnin home ta mama with it's tail tucked betwix it's legs!
PS Carvin has been round LONGER than Fender (1946 ) and Unlike Fender and others is still owned by the founding family!

OK - so we can both play Talk Dirty to Me, Round and Round, and Turn Up the Radio....

But we aren't talking about Carvin vs BC Rich, Jackson, or whatever. We are talking about big hair Carvin vs that Fender.

That Fender OWNS anything and anyone that ever played the Carvin!

IMO.....

I don't have a problem with pink. However, I don't get the whole "relic" thing. If I buy a new guitar I want it to look new. A reliced guitar isn't fooling anybody -- it's not old it just looks beat up (alright, now, don't be sending me any hate mail).

Blah.

Relics are lame.

Never in my life did I ever give a second thought to PINK as a guitar color but man, after seeing this one on ebay I just totally want it (A bit too pricey though at over $4k lol)

That pink overspray and the relic treatment just screams vintage Mojo to me and takes you back to when tailfins and pink Caddy's were all the rage.

I've always loved vintage white and sunburst, but everyones got those. Who's got a pink strat ?

Or should I say who's got a pink strat that doesnt have Hello Kitty on it ? lol

Me. I have a pink MIJ '60's(?) RI, it's got a little gold sticker on the back of the headstock that says "celebrating 50 years of excellence 1946-1996". I think the color is referred to as "shell pink" and it's a bit faded, but not in relic condition. I bought it used when I worked at Mars Music back in '01 or so. I payed roughly $220.00 for it after tax and a nice gig bag. I'm not really sure if it's supposed to be a re-issue model, but the rosewood is pretty thick, the maple backside is big and round (an apparently unfinished or satin?). The dot placement is similar to '60's versions based on pictures that I've seen. It came with a 5 way switch installed. I took the pickguard off and looked at the pickups. The neck p'up has a blue dot, the bridge p'up has a red dot. I forget if the middle had a colored dot on it. All of the pick ups say "custom shop" on them bottom side. The routing was 3 singles, not swimming pool style. The body has some good weight to it, and acoustically resonates well. I bought it because of the neck shape, but I got used to the color. I haven't made any mods to it, but unless it's worth considerably more I'll probably upgrade the bridge and possibly the switch/output jack. I've played it a few times in various "live" situations and it's just plain good. Sounds good, feels good. I've nicknamed it the "Clitocaster".
