I will totally disagree with this. I bet I would sound EXACTLY like him (almost, or pretty darn close) on whatever songs I actually know note for note.
Now - if I played anything original - heck no. I think that's what people mean when they say that. The tone is, let's say, 90% that rig. Might not vibrato, pinch, phrase anything like him though. Ted Nugent's playing STYLE sounds nothing like Eddie. But preset #37 on whatever box-o-tones can maker almost anyone sound like him IF you know how to play what should sound like that.

That's because you're attempting to play the song the way he does...whether consciously or unconsciously. If you' re able to emulate some of his vibe (fingers) you'll sound a hell of a lot closer to his sound than someone who's totally unable to do that (like Clint haha...ok lol j/k).
Conversely you don't need his rig to sound like him if you can channel some of his mojo..
Some kind of custom axe through a Class A Cicognani Brutus...ie pretty far removed from what Eddie played.

Here's one I played through a $20 mini pedal I got off Aliexpress.
I'm just jamming as always .but it's more in the style of Sammy-Halen than my usual stuff and I think that's obvious..
ie.. if you asked someone who's style that reminded them of..pretty sure the answer would be vh...not nessesarily great vh :laugh2: ..but definitely vh.
