I am leaning towards a Fender Hotrod Deluxe

Re: I am leaning towards a Fender Hotrod Deluxe

I love a good Fender! I'd go with the Hotrod Deluxe if I didn't already have a great Fender.

If you plan on gigging or jamming full on band, then get the amp. PLain and simple. You have to outweight the pros and cons. Yes it may not sound as good on lower levels, but will sound great jamming with a band (fender) vs sounds great at home, need more for band (ht).

More over, just get the fender and be happy with it. You can always find ways down the line to play it at home whether lower volumes, attenators, time of day you play it, etc

I ran my tele and pedalboard through one last night at a show I was asked to play last minute. It sounded great.

I see it like the Ford Explorer of amps.

Solid, can do lots of things well, a billion of them around. Not super sexy or exciting or high performing in any one area, but it does nearly everything reasonably well, and is affordable.

I drive a Ford Explorer and play a Hot Rod DeVille and I approve this message.

Re: I am leaning towards a Fender Hotrod Deluxe

I just got HRD III a week ago and the tone is awesome, to say the least....mind you, I don't use the drive or more drive channels. I use it strictly on the clean channel with my homemade SHO clone for a cleanish boost, a LTD SR for light to moderate gain and a Super Sport SS for Marshally goodness,

The cleans on this amp beats out the clean ones on amps costing 3 times as much!

yeah that's how I use them when I ever use a HRD at the practice rooms!

Re: I am leaning towards a Fender Hotrod Deluxe

How little were you thinking to pay for a pre-owned HRD? Would you be willing to trade your Blackstar as part payment? :deal:

I do that too --- I only use the clean channel. It is warm and FULL and juicy.

Switching to the drive channel is like rolling the bass knob to 0. It has no more punch.

I just hit it with my choice of drive or distortion, and it is great.

PM sent.

Meanwhile, how happy are you likely to be with the HRD overdrive channel? If you plan to run pedals through the Fender clean channel, your home set-up could be one of those new SKB combined pedalboard micro amp gadgets.
