Speakers for Derek!! Thanks to everyone for the support since our gear was stolen. Lots of people have been asking what they can do to help, and the answer is...help us find some Pyle Driver speakers for Derek's replacement amps!! We've found several super reverbs that we're busy working on to get as close as possible to Derek's amp that was stolen. The missing link is a set of these speakers. The exact speakers we are looking for are 10" Pyle Driver 1040 -8 Ohm (not the remake Weber DT-10s). We need some help scouring the internet and music shops, and we'll take just about as many as you can find or any leads on who might have a set we can buy. When I bought the Lux it had a Pyle speaker in it. I pulled it and now it's just lying around. I responded to the above from Dereks website and asked if he wanted my Pyle and he said he needs it bad!

Number 1 this is pretty cool to sell a speaker to one of my favorite players and 2 I have no idea what a fair price would be.

Any ideas?

I think some front row concert tickets with some backstage passes would also be neat...maybe jam out with Derek when he comes to town? That would awesome!

Sign the cone before you send it to him, so when you get drunk at a show you can be the annoying person yelling "THAT'S MY SPEAKER!"

I totally say if it's just sitting around, and speaking from the experience of someone who has had everything he owned stolen...give it to him and just ask for tickets or something next time he's in atlanta (which he is often) and I'm sure that'd be a request they'd quickly meet. It'd be an incredibly cool gesture on your part, costs them no real money, and plus you get the satisfaction of knowing that Derek Trucks is playing through a speaker you once owned

I'd go with what Skarey is saying, I bet he'd get a charge out of something like that.

Somehow, I missed the thread last month about his gear getting stolen. I just saw it a day or two ago. First thing I did was go out and buy the new CD - figure they need every bit of royalty they can get. Then I went back and re-read the Guitar Player cover article on Derek from 2 months ago. In it, he talked about how he was worried that replacing a blown output transformer on that amp would kill whatever 'special something' it had. It's heartbreaking that when someone has that kind of relationship with one amp, that some bastard would go and steal it. I really sympathize, since I had a van full of gear ripped off years ago.

That Pyle is worth close to nothing, except to Derek Trucks, to whom it's worth the world. A modest price plus autograph and/or tix is in order, I think. Be sure to pass on good vibes and best wishes from us all for a quick recovery. Derek and the band are some of the good guys, they deserve all the support they can get.

Dude, you're in Atlanta...his camp is based there...I'd offer to give up the speaker but want to deliver it personally & have a chance to hang with Derek for a while.

He's a GREAT person.

And he'll sign something for you too...no sweat.

I've got his autograph mounted in one of those 'floating frames' with a bunch of guitar picks I've collected over the years. I figure he signed the paper with a Sharpie using his hands...kinda like the ultimate pick or something.

I'd go for concert tickets rather then an autographed CD. Seriously, they just keep 'em around to hand out. It's too easy...go for the show w/ a pass & get 'yer picture taken with him!
