I believe there's a project in my future. (Aka, I got wood.)

My luthier friend and I are always giving/trading things back and forth. He gave me a guitar, I gave him a gun. I gave him a 'fridge, he gave me a fret-job/setup. That kind of thing, over and over through the years.

The other day, I was talking about building an SG. He just gave me something very cool:

That's genuine circa late 50's, early 60's, Honduran Mahogany. Should be enough for a couple of SG's.

I told him that I probably shouldn't use that wood for my first build. He said . . . "Very wise, grasshopper." :D

I need to practice with my pine, but stay tuna-ed.

P.S. The wood is actually much darker in person. I guess the camera flash lightened it up.

Another option would be to find a place that does bodies and necks via machine, and have them use your mahogany, bringing the price down. Then, do all the fine sanding and finish work yourself. Just an idea, in order to make your finished product higher quality.
