I installed a Hipshot contour tremolo on my project guitar and it uses mounting studs which require larger holes to be drilled where the old screw holes were. I measured about 8 times to make sure it was precise, but when I finished hammering the studs in the one under the high E measured about 1/32" closer to the bridge than the one under the low E. I strung it up anyway and set it up, but it buzzes under the wound strings and I'm guessing the angle being off is why.
What can I do? Is it a viable option to pull the misplaced stud out, glue in a hardwood dowel and redrill?
