I bougth another Rondo and its way too bright!!! HELP!!!

I just bought one ofthese . It looks amazing (nice cross between a 335 and a gretsch). The hardware is awesome and it plays like a dream. The only problem is its brighter than my tele. Even the neck pup is kind of harsh. Any pickup recommendations to darken my tone. The tone pots have 2 settings bright and muffled. Is it the hollowbody that contributes to the brightness? Also how in the hell am i supposed to wire this thing??? Its got no control cavity1!!!

PUPs - No idea but seeing as they are ceramic magnets ...

Wiring - You either have to fish the volume pots up thru the f-hole or you pull the wiring harness out thru the bridge PUP route. tie a long string to each pot before pulling it out so you can use the string to pull the pot back into the correct hole. Either way its a PITA.

i had that issue with my Agile LP copy. Turns out it was mostly the stock generic strings!!! and secondly the underwound 44awg Ceramic mag pickups that have a ton of wax potting...

I put on my favortie brand of 10's and and got a Set of Dimarzio Air Classics on ebay for $60 and never looked back.

The pots are alpha 500k's and the switch and jack actually are fairly decent IMO in my Agile...

$116 shipped for the guitar...$70 shipped for the new buckers $5 for strings and $60 for a SKB hardshell because my buddy from GC hooked me up!

Best $300 ive ever spent!!!

I know one thing wrong, it's backwards!


New pots might help but I think new buckers are in order...

Might try a set of vintage output pickups with an A2 mag. That should warm things up a bit and roll some of that top end off. While you're at it, make sure the pots are good A500 pots.
