That nobody but me ever tried a Screaming Demon with alnico 8 magnet , with two rows of fillister screws , the row toward the neck having shortened screws !
It is the ultimate pickup ; powerfull , tight , even more precise than the Jazz neck , even EQ , etc , everything you ever dream of for a bridge pickup .
I can't believe it , and actually I don't care that people don't get this dream p-u , but sometime I'll just appreciate that somebody here write about something EXCITING other that the usual boring Custom and JB .

Yeah, so many times I thought I'd found the perfect tone...untill I got to band practise only to think: wtf?! :D

Sounds pretty interesting, I've only played with a Demon in the neck of a Gibson Les Paul, sounded pretty good but way too much bass for that position. I'll definately scoop one up if I see one go for a nice price.

Re: I can't beleive it !

I saw you have a brobucker ; is it defined enough in the bass for speed riffs ?
My demon with two rows of long fillister screws was a bit bassy and muddy in the low end .
My test for this is to play the riff of "smokes and mirrors" by Symphony X .

Re: I can't beleive it !

yes it is, it's perfectly balanced and will do anything! It's the ultimate versatile humbucker IMHO.

This is definitely more exciting than the typical Custom/Distortion/JB chatter....I think the Demon is a very under-rated pickup to begin with. It's so original sounding IMO....no other pickup really comes close to sounding like it.

So what didn't you like about the original Demon that made you want to mod it?? I wish the one I had was a bit hotter and a touch thicker actually.

Re: I can't beleive it !

Ranalli this is exactly what I wanted : more beef , and the alnico 8 gave it !
Actually the stock Demon is very good for its clarity , punchy attack and balanced ( compared to a 59 or C5 ) EQ .
But it still have a mid scoop with makes the G string less punchy than high or low ones , and the pronounced highs can be a bit sharp in a bright guitar .
Alnico 8 raise the mids level so it cure this mid scoop , adding thickness to the high string (without any buzz or distortion like ceramic would) and depth to the low strings .
And it give more power (but no distortion) and more clarity .
And the cutted screws just make this pickup incredibly tight : with two rows of long screws it is a bit boomy .
