Honestly, all these things i noticed right away did ring alarm bells in my head. I just forgot all about them after I played it for about 5 minutes. It plays pretty decent, but it had medium-high action for a JEM. So I thought - i'll just adjust the action later. I completely ignored the details for some reason, even though the shoddy scalloping caught my eye right away.

Guys i'm still in disbelief at myself. This is not at all like me. I've never done something this stupid before. I'm always very detail oriented, and people come to my house and ask my advice about guitars and features, which we discuss for hours. I also have an RG Prestige 2570, and it didn't even cross my mind to compare the two side by side, or to go over every feature on the ibanez specification sheet. I think i was just very tired after work. On the train back from work - i thought to myself (this is probably a beaten to hell JEM 333 Jr, or a 320, made in Korea. If it plays well, i might trade for it anyway) But the thought of a counterfit just completely missed me at the time. It's like i forgot that counterfits exist when i was playing it... Absolutely ridiculous...

That sucks, man. We all do stupid **** like this sometimes. At least you'll learn from it. I really hope you get your stuff back.

i hope you are able to track the guy who stole your guitars and deliver a beat down that is beyond this earth of pain, its not a good feeling being jipped or stolen from, first hand experience here, i know jack **** about ibanez, cant stand them imho so this could of happened to me too.

that sucks man. I often lose my mind a bit when I'm nervous, in a hurry, etc. I could see me doing that maybe. I definitely wouldn't be able to pick out stuff like strap buttons off or whatever.

There is one of those hanging on the wall of one of the local MGRs that they took in trade and had out for $1,750.00. I told the guy it was a "Chinese Fake" and he told me I was the second person to tell him that and asked why it was fake, so I pointed out the bridge, etc. They can't resell it due to copyright issues - now it hangs on their wall with a big sign about "Beware Of Fake Copies" Sign below it.

I'm sorry to read that. I guess it's a good thing I don't really care about JEMs and want to buy one. I probably wouldn't know that guitar was fake if you held it up to my face.

Yeah, that's a fake JEM. I've seen dozens of those in México. Actually, they are quite common there. Funny thing is that I've never seen anyone trying to pass them as real JEMs. They go new for around $500.

The killswitch was likely added by the previous owner. None of the fake JEMs I've played or seen have it.

Go back and demand that he return your guitars or else you'll call the police on him for trading counterfeit merchandise. That should put the fear of god into him.

Me neither, but like Jolly, I'm not in the know because they're not of interest to me. I'm sure, to the initiated, it's as obvious as a fake LP to a LP enthusiast.

You should point out to them that its not a fake copy, its a real copy

M-50s dont have floyds. they have strat tremolos. M-100's have floyds. and yea my original alan screws stripped within a couple of years and started rusting.
