I can't even...the end is near.

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

Sites like Reverb and eBay need comments sections.

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

Don't tell nobody ya heard dis from me, but that quite possibly could just be an innocent money laundering scheme.

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

The damn thing is no longer of any use to anyone because people who have them don't want to use them because of the perceived value.

A handbuilt boost pedal is like $100-$150 and I might stretch that to $200 for something truly special. I will bet my entire gear collection that nine out of ten owners of Klons couldn't pick out the original from a copy ion a blind test.

Spend your money on what you want of course, but the very same people who criticize the beginning player with the $4k amp are the same ones who will spend thousands on boost pedals.

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

I think things like the Klon and the Dumble are good for the industry, because they take the things most of us should be spending our money on and make them look like better values.

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

Two comments ...

First ... the shipping is free but extra for Alaska and Hawaii.
Second ... the reason why it will go for 10K rather than 2.5-3K is because the black goop job on the circuit board is especially well done.

Oops. One more comment ... The asking price for original Klon Centaurs makes the price of new Gibson LP's look like bargains ...

Bill Finnegan should start hand building limited edition, Klon reproductions exactly like the originals and charge $1K for them. He'd probably make a killing.

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

He does from time to time, with proceeds going to someone he knows that needs a little help.

I’m sure there’s an extremely limited supply of original components since he hasn’t been making those for over a decade.

If you want the Klon circuit, buy a Klone. If you want a collectible, buy a Klon..

I know he does and it's a really nice thing for him to do.

The buyer would never have to know whether or not he used the exact same passives in the repro's as he did in the originals because they are gooped and he can goop the repro's. Kidding aside, Bill F. claims that the KTR sounds exactly the same as the originals and the KTR is almost all surface mount. So, not even close to the same passives. Point being, just the fact that he is the originator and would be hand building the reproductions like the originals would bring buyers. Kind of like the KTR being mass production Marshalls with the hand built reproductions being like the hand wired Marshalls. ;) For the record, my comment on the matter was meant to be tounge in cheek.

I agree that the only real "value" in an original is the collectability.

He's smokin something good. Not even the people who buy these as collectibles or star musicians who the cost of a Klon is pocket change would pay what he's asking.

I'm tempted to drop a $100 offer out of spite. Lol

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

I have run across them on Ebay and Ama too.

Re: I can't even...the end is near.

A used Tumnus can be had for $125 or so. I had a klone built from scratch (plus mods) for $120 minus the enclosure. The Klon circuit is killer as a clean boost with a pushed amp or using them with strats. Listings like this one feed into the distaste for them.
