I can't stop the hum...and its grounded?!

Re: I can't stop the hum...and its grounded?!

I'll have to get my hands on one somehow. I noticed when my pot is anywhere from 0-2 on volume it stops the hum as is should when i touch any metal on it but once its blasted halfway or past it just buzzes all out lol ahhhh my luck is great

If you have the pickguard unscrewed from the body and pulled away from the body is there hum? Some times you put the body on and a wire is moved slightly so it is touching something it shouldn't and there is a hum..You pull off the guard and move some things around and it stops..put it back on and it starts. had that issue many times and it usually involves the sel switch..Just a thought. Either way good luck getting it figured out.

Yea it hums when I have it on or off. A few times I did notice some wires would come off since it was a fresh solder but I've fixed that and still no help. I've been dealing with it but I might just put my ego aside and bring it to a tech when I get some cash.

Re: I can't stop the hum...and its grounded?!

just to update and seal this thread I had switched the pickups from that guitar and my problem was solved, go figure. the ironic part is that I sold it once i fixed it but whatever, lesson learned.

Re: I can't stop the hum...and its grounded?!

could be a damaged pickup cable too; i've had that.
the bottom line for me is as previously stated by other dudes here: gut it, and do it again
and get to know your multimeter.
like, intimately.
