That was very exciting actually.
I did my first set up on my Studio yesterday. I am entering a new world. With all the info I gathered on the forum, from my luthier in Strasbourg and the book from Dan Erlewine I bought a few month ago, I finally took my courage and gave it a try. I mean, six month ago I really didn't understand anything about my instruments, happy enough just to play them. I surely wouldn't think of touching the truss rod at that time.
Thanks to all of you for my guitaristic education!
I guess that now, to arrive to a good set up it will be a long process of testing different configurations. the main thing was I wanted to have the strings round the tailpiece and to get rid of the buzzing I got so far with the bass strings. Even if you couldn't hear it in the amplification, it was kind of irritating.
So what I did is, give a slight relief to the neck. As it seemed not to be enough, I raised the bridge on the E-string side (maybe a little too much?).
I played it this evening and the buzzing remains, but at least it feels fairly comfy to play. Where can this buzzing come from? ... fret problem, I had a fret job done on this axe a couple of month ago? What do you think?
