This thing plays like a shredder now. Looks like a tele, plays like a Charvel, and sounds like a gat danged grand piano.

Anybody else ever commit sacrilege like this, and love it?

9.5" & jumbos? Perfect! What's the back profile, is it V or C?

Did you route for the mini bucker or did it come that way?

It's a big, fat C. Very near to full thickness for a Tele neck blank. Super nice carve, too. I think the luthier wanted to buy it from me after he refretted it.

Edit: this model came stock with a Seymourized minibucker.

I see nothing wrong with such a mod. Anything smaller than medium jumbos or 6105's don't work for me.

The bridge pickup is something of a Super Paul Bunyan wound by Zangliquin.

AWESOME!!! Thats my biggest dislike with teles. Most have tiny frets.. I love your pickup combo! I had a Squier vintage mod tele awhile back and had a mini bucker in the neck and I put a Jerry donahue duncan in the bridge.. the neck position tone of that guitar was one of the best sounds Ive ever gotten!

OP's Tele is a Fender Hot Rod '52 model. The AVRI is strictly 7.25", skinny frets and a relatively high action.

I'm in the process of trying to find someone to put jumbos (6150) on my Dot. They just make guitars more fun to play.

Thanks guys. I was hoping for some stories about times you went the unconventional route for a guitar (Blackouts in a Rickenbacker) with good results.

I don't need EVERYTHING to be about me. :) Even my narcissism has limits.
