I Didn't Wake Up Thinking I'd Get a New Amp Today...

Re: I Didn't Wake Up Thinking I'd Get a New Amp Today...

I'm jealous of the casters. My Showman cab is a ****ing pain in the ass to move.

The fiddle is my g/f's. Actually the amp is her's too, but I play it more than she does these days (she prefers our Tweed Champ). And that is indeed a Reverb Unit. It sounds awesome with the Bassman.

Very nice set-up. No doubt the violin sounds huge through that.
Those stand-alone Verb units.....its funny...like a Leslie, they are kind of a pain in the ass (what with modern effects) but there is no pedal that sounds like one of those Verb Boxes.
Not when you are standing right there and playing into it. Just like there is no pedal that sounds like a Leslie moving real air...not when you are playing it in a studio. As far as live, or for a recording, the experience gets lost a bit, but there is just something more "intimate" about the older, and lower tech, effects devices.
Anyway.....has anybody noticed how much Jordan looks like a young, Joe Stalin.?

Stalin got a new guitar!

NGD thread coming soon to a guitar shop near you.

Re: I Didn't Wake Up Thinking I'd Get a New Amp Today...

I just want you to know that if the guitar in question is a gay and glittery PRS, I am never going to stop giving you **** over it.

I mean every single post. Like some dude talking about Squier Standards vs. Affinity's... I'm gona say "No matter what you do, you're not gona be as lame as Agileguy and his sparkling PRS."

Re: I Didn't Wake Up Thinking I'd Get a New Amp Today...

I FINALLY finished setting it up/cleaning it. I'll start a thread on it tomorrow.

Re: I Didn't Wake Up Thinking I'd Get a New Amp Today...

I took the guitar to work with me so I could take pictures of it with the Nikon, but I have to wait until my break to take pictures and do a write up. I will say this - this guitar is incredible. It resonates like a mofo.

Are you done yet? At least for July?

The Bassman/Showman stack is the most natural representation of her fiddle's sound we've found yet. It really just sounds like someone is playing a huge, loud fiddle. She went through a few different set ups before finding this one (an LR Baggs ParaAcoustic DI, a Fender Pro Sonic for one gig, a Mesa DC-5 for a while, then we found this in a shop in town and pretty much bought it on the spot. She prefers to play out with the 62 Champ simply for portability. It sounds really awesome, but it's not quite the same as the Bassman.

And I totally agree on the reverb head. It sounds amazing, it's got a lot of mojo.

Re: I Didn't Wake Up Thinking I'd Get a New Amp Today...

I dated a girl who rocked some violin but would never play it plugged in... she preferred guitar and bass for that...

This thread and my psychic powers made somebody put their vintage reverb tank on my local clist last night. I have the money to buy it, and I'm trying to save it for something very special, but i can't stop thinking about how good it would look on top of my Fender stack...
