I done it again

Re: I done it again

I actually just bought like four or five different colors. Unfortunately, that's not one of them. My next wah will be ****ing great though.

Re: I done it again

The testors has been really really good to me though. I love it.

Do you have a brand of primer that you prefer for spaying under their paint? I've just been using rustoleum engine primer.

Re: I done it again

Since I'm painting over existing paint I just scuff and then use a white or silver lacquer from Duplicolor. Since you're painting over metal, the engine primer is a great idea.

Re: I done it again

No, not just between fast / slow

I just think there's a lot more we could be doing with foot expression besides volume swells and filter sweeps.

I have a Strymon Mobius on my live board, and I have one of those Mission EXP pedals to control parameters. And maybe the coolest thing about the Mobius (outside of the sound) is how you can map virtually any parameter to the Expression pedal and save it as part of your patches. I even had a phaser patch where rocking the expression pedal toggled the effect between being in front of the amp or being in the loop.

It's just that kind of flexibility makes you think a little bit... what about OD / Fuzz? I think I'd actually get some use out of a nice OD where I could easily control the level of gain with a treadle.

Akai did that with an OD/Distortion unit, back in the 90s... I'm surprised the Moog Drive isn't set for that...

Even having a distortion's gain pot on a sweep would be cool - start a solo mellow then crank it up as you play. Maybe that's cooler in theory though.

I think the issue with that, is that as you increase gain, you're also invariably increasing volume to some extent. If you set the pedal to be stage volume at clean, you'll be cutting heads off at full grit.

Picked these up for $25 today. The colorsound is a 90's reissue and the black one is a vintage Jen Wah baby. The wah baby is going to a friend but I'm keeping the colorsound for myself. I've got big plans for that one.

Re: I done it again

I tell you hwhat, I love the end result but sanding wah pedals is a ****ing pain in the ass. It'll be worth it when I finish this bad boy though.

It took me four hours of sanding to get to this point and another hour to do the top piece. And I still have to get it all the way up to 600. Ugh

Re: I done it again

The treadle is actually painted in that picture. I got some rustoleum "mirror chrome" paint... and it looks like ****. So I got some "mystic maroon" for the treadle. I just can't do a polished finish with cans. I thought about bringing it to a body shop and having them do the polished finish but that seems like a waste of money when a deep metallic red would look killer. It's not vintage kosher, but neither is inca gold lol

You can't get chrome from a can unless you spend more than what you're painting is worth. You could probably buff it to a shine and then clear it, but you're at the mercy of the clear coat and your painting skills. :D

Red and gold? Classy.

Re: I done it again

I totally forgot that Iron Man is red and gold. I have some green in stock but then it would just look A's themed. No thanks.

Have you used the mystic maroon? Would you say it's a deep red or more of a bright red? I was looking at some pictures and the results seemed to vary quite a bit.

Re: I done it again

I haven't, but it looks more like a deep red to me from people using it on models:
