I don't know what I'm looking for...

I do, but I don't .....

I currently have a Marshall JCM600 as well as a B-52 AT-100. I like the Marshall, but I'm looking for something warmer, that can roar and crunch when needed. The B-52 has the gain and can roar, but lacks the warmth and doesn't have the complexity of the Marshall's sound. The Marshall roars but sounds boxy and almost fragile when cranked.

I like all the hotrodded Marshall tones, but I'm not sure what to look for. A JCM800? A Bogner? A Soldano? I like classic rock, metal, hard rock (think The Who to Van Halen to GNR). Recommend an amp!

I always had the best success with a JCM800 with it's gain maxed being pushed by a good distortion or overdrive box to get the level of saturation wanted.

An 800 alone tho, with the master at 5 or 6 is an amazing beast to witness.

With the exception of metal, I'd recommend a Celtic Edana (JTM45 style amp). Then again, I"m rather biased. ;)
