I don't know what to do

Hey there,
I need a very small amp w/reverb to play clean and quiet at bedtime, to not to bug my neighbors. Headphones don't work. Was using old Fender Princeton Chorus, perfect on "1", treble on 10. It broke, first input 1, then 2, they are housed is plastic and motherboard, can't get to them.
looked at 100 amps, settled on Peavey Spyder 10 watt. Tried it out with others at G.Center. Best in Show. Got it home, set up close to my head on my pillow, and sure enough, it still sounded good, BUT, I didn't notice it makes a gain like "fizz" even if I just pick it lightly. It is not broken, just has a background noise at low levels I couldn't hear at a place like G. Center.
So I want a Princeton re-issue sound, but only need a fraction of the wattage. plus it costs near 1,000.00 for a new one. A little to much for a tiny sound. I would get one if they were only 100 bucks, but they aren't.
So thinking maybe an Acoustic brand small amp. Hey-any ideas? Need your help.
Thank You,
Steve Buffington (very disappointed).

Re: I don't know what to do

i use my PC, soundbar/headphones and guitar Rig 4 modeller program for bedroom practice.. sounds way better than any practice amp IMO

if i want to disturb the neighbors.. i have a 150 watt and 200 watt half stacks for that.. lol

Re: I don't know what to do

The older engineers at Peavey can't hear the buzzing

As you get older it will get lost in the ringing too

Re: I don't know what to do

Thanks Guys,
I'm 62, I am an old guy and my left ear rings like the bells of St. Mary. I'm am not tech oriented, so the info on PC, etc. while certainly welcome, just are not up my ally.
Fender Super Champ X2-is that new? The cube-really quite high frequency w/reverb?
The Blackstar, Roland Microtube, and Super Champ X2 are now on my list. What I am looking for is a princeton clean tone for 100-200 bucks.
Good luck on me, thank you all for the chime in, I really really appreciate it. I am in virgin waters for myself and amps.!

Re: I don't know what to do

A Super Champ new is a bit above that, but you may find a used one in the range your looking

Re: I don't know what to do

Very Helpful,
I am going to look 'em up right this second.
Here I go, oh also, I have liked Yamaha as provider of great electrical products in all of their many incarnations, Thanks for that!
Thank You!

Re: I don't know what to do

Hi,
It was a Line 6 Spider lV. Sorry about that. The headphones are a bother because I have an Amp for my guitar, and one set for my CD player. In bed, the least amour of wire is best. Also, when I turn the cd up just loud enough NOT to bother my neighbor, I am free to set the sound (EQ) of my guitar. With headphones, I need to turn the cd up more, and I know 0 about headphones but even when I borrowed some expensive one, they just don't sound good for me.
Again, I can't stress HOW UNGAINLY even one more wire, and headphone wires GET CAUGHT UP on every thing, pulling 'em out of my ears. So Guitar Center has the Champ 2X12 and the Microcube, which Microcube is best, there were so many. The Yamaha THR sounds like a good series, couldn't find it on my I-Pad, and forgot to use my laptop in the living room today, as it was SuperBowl day, and although I am not a sports fan, I live in Tacoma, near Seattle, so I was a sports nut for a day.
Sounds like you guys know what I am looking for, so thanks for that.
Heck, if I can't find what I want, I am just gonna fall on my knees, praise Jesus, and ask his permission to spend a 1,000.00 on a Princeton Reverb, new, with a 2 year store warranty, and pray my teeth hold up, and that I need no new appliances for at least 2 years. Although not a religious man, if Jesus is real, that means he loves me anyway, so a prayer from a heathen can't hurt!
Thank you-very refreshing to see a whole page of posts with no insults, inferred or blatant. Seems to be a lot of those lately. Very nice and helpful too.

Re: I don't know what to do

I forgot about the Fender Mustang combos. I checked the only store of gc for Tacoma, they seem to have those. Definitely check those out when you can if your considering the Princeton.

The THR stuff is for exactly what you need but you may or may not like the sounds. Here's a demo of Soren using one but i forgot if its recorded using a digicam mic.

The THR10C is more along the stuff you'd want to play I guess. Found two demos for it,one from PhilX but it was mostly around overdriven sounda, the other ones goes through all i guess(haven't listened to the entire vid)

Edit:Found one more for the C, seems the pc editor opens up more settings, i dig the way this one sounds.

Re: I don't know what to do

Just for reference I did not like the Mustang V1 , the Fuse software and how it works or any of the sounds in it really. I eventually got one really decent sound out of the thing to use on Ejamming (online jams). Mostly bought it to attach to the computer and record. I sent it back , they have revised it since but I have not used one again. They get great reviews even then and I felt it was not good , I seem to think reviews are not a good reason to buy something. Go out and get your hands on them , take your guitar to GC or something like that. CL can be helpful but that is a whole different story full of variables. Is this the spot where I get to insult you ? How dare you ask a question on an online forum about guitar stuff? Good luck with your search.

Re: I don't know what to do

That was the perfect spot for an insult.
I have a clever return insult I made up by myself- Oh yeah, Your Mother wears Army boots! Take that!
I did get a chance to find some Yamaha gear at Guitar center, and it seems so did you guys. The 5 and 10 both sound like they could be cleaned up for the sound I need, so I'll be going to GC next week.
For the future, I think, just to shorten things up, I am just gonna say, "I need a small amp that can sound like BB King!
Now that's universal.
Thanks guys, all your suggestions will be tried. I'll get back and report in a few weeks.
