But this one is absolutely stunning. I've really fallen in love with Heritage guitars.

nice axe, looks a bit like a gibson les paul custom

That's because it is a Les Paul Custom. Heritage guitars are built in Kalamazoo, MI in the old Gibson plant, buy ex-gibson employees. The same employees in many instances that built the classic Les Pauls of the 50's and early 60's. Just a different name on the headstock.

I've been doing a ton of research on what made the late 50's Les Pauls so desirable, toneful and collectable, and have reached the conclusion that Heratige still builds them in the same way, using the same materials and construction techniques, things that I feel Gibson has gotten away from.

Re: I Don't Normally Like Black Guitars....

Those guitars are beautiful, and from what I hear, they sound and play better than most Gibsons for about half the price. My question is, does Heritage have some sort of deal with Gibson that allows them to do this? Because if not, they'll probably be the next Gibson competitor to get sued.

Re: I Don't Normally Like Black Guitars....

Since Heritage bought the original Gibson factory, and in many cases the original equipment Gibson used to make Les Pauls, I would assume that they have some sort of arrangement with Gibson. I don't know the details, and haven't run across anything in my research that discussed that, but since Heritage has been building these guitars since the mid 80's with no interference from Gibson, something must have been worked out.

That is beautiful Jeff. Even though folks post pics all the time of some gorgeous flame-tops, quilt-tops, etc., my favorite color for guitars has always been simple black, white, (and off-whites), red, and tobacco sunburst.

"Curly Blue" has also started to grow on me, but basically, thats it. :)

This one's on eBay for $1200. I think if you shop around you can get them for less...this is about the price you'd pay at a dealer. Usually you can pick up used Heritages for under $1000, and in the research I've done, the quality of woods, construction and components are on par with what the Gibson custom shop puts out....and those guitars start at well over $2000.

Re: I Don't Normally Like Black Guitars....

If anyone is ever in the Kalamazoo area, I highly suggest taking the Heritage factory tour. I used to live in Kalamazoo, and one day a friend and I just stopped by during their lunch break and talked to 'em for about half an hour or so. They're really cool guys, and you can tell they love what they do.

Thats what im talking about.

Re: I Don't Normally Like Black Guitars....

That's a great guitar for $1200, although I wouldn't trade a Gibson LP Custom for it.
You'd be hardpressed to get a better guitar than that Heritage for that price!
There's something about a black/gold Custom that looks so good strapped on.
