i feel dirty. I installed my first dimarzio

Re: i feel dirty. I installed my first dimarzio

DiMarzio makes (or brands, in this case) good stuff. What can ya do?

Re: i feel dirty. I installed my first dimarzio

No shame in using Dimarzio’s stuff.
I love it...there, I said it.

Re: i feel dirty. I installed my first dimarzio

I like the DiMarzio pots. And a number of their pickups. Still own many more Duncans than DiMarzios though.

Re: i feel dirty. I installed my first dimarzio

No shame in DiMArzio pots. I've got some (had some?). And they make some pretty darn good pickups too!

Now - there is shame in trademarking a "color" of plastic....but that is Larry's shame.

Re: i feel dirty. I installed my first dimarzio

What’s the story with Dimarzio (and Duncan for that matter) pots? Are they made to the company’s specs by someone like CTS?

Duncans are Bourns guitar pots with loose feel.
Current Dimarzio pots are CTS vintage dishback pots with a special ordered custom audio taper that is closer to vintage audio taper (there are different audio tapers, most stock pots these days do not have the same audio taper as the pots in vintage guitars).

Do you know what percentage taper DiMarzio pots have? I assume it's around 30% from what you're saying.

DiMarzio makes a lot of nice products such as pots, strap lock straps, pickups, vintage trems, and even bodies and necks back in the day.

One of my fav humbuckers by them is the Breed and I should get another one to mess with. My last DiMarzio was a pink/yellow zebra DP159F Evolution I had in a clear pickguard I made for my 87 RG550 Road Flare Red. I should get pics of that on here, it was total 80's.

Hell yeah! I’d love to see that guitar!

What's the shame in using something made by Dimarzio?

Re: i feel dirty. I installed my first dimarzio

I like a lot of DiMarzio pickups. I’ve had more of them in my guitars than Duncan, which also makes good pickups. Apples and Oranges.

Also if you play an Ernie Ball guitar it has DiMarzio pickups, unless otherwise stated. Same with Ibanez. They do a lot of OEM stuff.

Interesting fact, DiMarzio straps and cables are made in-house! I was surprised by that. lol.

Yes, the same $2 Bourns guitar pot is sold for like $16 with EVH or YJM stamped on it. Lol.

I had samples of the YJM pots and they were exactly the same as the Bourns I already use.

Personally I don’t like that loose feel.

Re: i feel dirty. I installed my first dimarzio

BcRich USA's in the 80's also featured DiMarzio's for the most part. Kramer was always Seymour Duncan...Jackson/Charvel I always thought of as a Duncan company although they used DiMarzio as well during their years...
There's a lot of other companies too that are like that...Like if they used other pickups, you always remember them as certain way or prefer them a certain way.. Both companies are awesome in their own right and they all make music!

Re: i feel dirty. I installed my first dimarzio

I always liked the Dimarzio pots- they turned easily and have a great taper. Now I use YJMs, because, well, you know.
