i was looking all along at getting the Deliverance60 and today that it arrived at my dealer i tried it out again and didnt like it compared to the 50/12ST.

the 50 is what i was looking for after all. it has that Van Halen ZZTop tone out of the box! Awesome. totally awesome.
i guess the KT88 sound isnt for me finally.

Great warm classic Marshall Hotrodded tone.

has all sorts of options and is built Beautifully. My dealer opened it up to put in a fresh pair of tubes and it had the cool Mallory caps in it and everything. Really nice piece of work.

has class A or A/B operation. SS or tube rectifier. two channels, Great warm sound.
One thing that freaked me out is that it even sounded great Biased cold. of course we properly biased it a bit hot and it sounds awesome. too too cool.

what a great amp!

i will post more of how it sounds cause i havent spent too much time with it.

Re: I finally got the VHT but the 50ST pitbull!

Would you mind listing the pros and cons of the Deliverance and the Pitbull? My next amp is going to be one or the other and im leaning towards the deliverance right now, but theres nowhere close to me thats a VHT dealer, so i cant try them out.

Re: I finally got the VHT but the 50ST pitbull!

The Deliverance is a single channel amp based on the second channel of a Pitbull Ultralead...it runs KT88 and has pretty much NO options...it's a single channel amp with a mastervolume but no FX loop, no reverb, no graphic, no BS...just an amp with killer tone.

The Pitbull 50 is a channel switching amp with built in graphic EQ, boost feature, FX loop, etc but is still a great sound amp...you really have to play through a VHT to fully understand them. I have never played through a VHT that I didn't like but they are all pretty different sounding amps.

Re: I finally got the VHT but the 50ST pitbull!

Congrats on finding a new amp, even better than the deliverance! How much did the 50/ST set you back? Around here VHT rose their prices about 25%, I just today went to the local store to ask about them. I could have been very interested in one.

I just discovered that my amp quest isn't over either, maybe I'll have some good news to post in a couple of days.

OK,

Well we hooked up the Deliverance in the store and the weird thing is that it is kinda voiced or set up in a way to be more vintage but the KT88's sound more like a smile in the EQ curve, (if that helps you understand the frequencies).
i dont get why he didnt use EL34's in this amp.

The other thing i didnt like from the Deliverance is that it is way too tight. I mean like TIGHT. you can mess with the Depth Switch on it and it does loosen it up a bit but in a weird way that i didnt find too useful. other people might like this but for tones that i love and grew up with i didnt like it.
It does sound diffferent with its cab compared to a 2x12. the 4x12 is super thick sounding. but not thick in a way that i like. I guess it is that EQ curve i mentioned before.

the Difference i can say in a few words of the two is that the Deliverance is modern sound with a vintage panel ( kinda) , more hifi sounding. The Pitbull series is the sound i am used to ( Halen ZZtop, Shenker, Etc.) , saturating sagging and rich.

i think if what pumps you is listening to a Halen ZZtop sound the deliverance wont do it for you.

I guess i jumed the gun in hearing the Deliverance. dont know why though. i didnt have a EL34 amp to compare it to.

i can safely say EL34's all the way!

Oh and another thing that might sound strange. I had also heard a 50 with the Eq option but it didnt sound as good as the one without. i know that the EQ option can be bypassed but for some reason the one without the eq sounds better to my ears.

The main thing is that i am totally happy with this amp. The only amp i can say that might have sounded a bit better is the CAE OD100. that had a richer sound to me. but it is also like a grand or so more in cash!

Re: I finally got the VHT but the 50ST pitbull!

oh sorry the amp cost me 2000euros.

pretty steep price compared to what you can find them for in the states but this is europe baby.

Could you elaborate on this a little more, Is the Deliverance really scooped sounding? Also the tightnes you mentioned kinda scares me a bit. If you had to choose either the Deliverance or Pitbull for a midrangey crunch (not super high gain) with a chunky lowend and smooth top end which one would you go for. I realize this is proably a pretty vague question, but any help would be appreciated.

Re: I finally got the VHT but the 50ST pitbull!

well dude what kinda music do you listen to?

From what you said i would totally go for the Pitbull. 100%
The Deliverance is a great amp, just doesnt get the sounds that make me smile.
It is kinda weird. the Deliverance is voiced to have punch but it isnt midrange punch. it doesnt get that honk that EL34's get. Listen to any classic Thin Lizzy, Halen, ZZtop, Schenker, they all have that characteristic honk in the amp. Halen has the honk less to me cause it is more compressed but it still has that midrangey sound.
The Deliverance is just more modern and more HiFi sounding. The thing that i totally didnt like about it was the absolute tightness of the amp. I mean it was way too much for me.
It is Linear sounding to me. too Modern. I cant believe i didnt hear this when i first plugged in.

Whatever you do, DO Not buy an amp you havent listened to many times over. these are expensive amps and it would be silly to buy something that isnt for you.
Yes the Deliverance is a great amp but it didnt put a smile on my face like the pitbull did.
what i saw that i totally dug today from the pitbull is messing with changing from the tube to SS rectifier. both are too cool sounding. to me there is a pretty big difference. sometimes it is cool to have the extra sag of the Tube rectifier and sometimes it sounds good to your ear to have the crisper quicker SS rectifier going.
The pitbull gets super close to Halen sounds and ZZtop and stuff like that. The only bad thing is that to get really close to these sounds you still have to crank the sucker. But even at bedroom levels the amps is awesome.

Hope i helped.

Re: I finally got the VHT but the 50ST pitbull!
