I forsake all guitars except the Telecaster!

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
So, I plugged my Telecaster into my Cube, set it for a light / bright break up, put a touch of reverb on, and played the intro to Lonely Is The Night by Billy Squier.

I understand everything now. Les Pauls, Stratocasters, Superstar's, V's, Cadillacs be damned. All garbage.

There is nothing so pure, so perfect, so simple, so righteous, as a Telecaster.

I do like my Telecaster necks, but I've never owned a real Telecaster. Now I know what I have to buy on 2022...

there's no secret why every studio has to have one, that bright maple neck, ashtray bridge attacky goodness, and snappy single coil (or Humbucker voiced for a Tele) is essential for options guitar goodness in mixes.

I have pretty much every flavor of guitar under the sun.

You know what I end up playing 98% of the time?

MIJ '69 Thinline RI with real deal singles. It just does pretty much everything up to and including hair metal. I really dig my other guitars, but, if I had to get rid of everything, I'd end up with just the Thinline and a small-ish amp.

Before someone comes in here and b*tches that the Tele has no body contours and is a basic out of date slab of wood....

I would like to remind you that the actual issue is you are FAT, not the Tele lacking body contours.... The Tele is fine.

You only need body contours when you are letting gluttony affect your guitar playing.

A wise Tele man once said...

In the beginning, a guitar is just a Tele.
But as you learn to play, a guitar becomes more than a Tele.
Finally, in the end, a guitar is just a Tele.

Just wait till you get around the middle position!

Tele's definitely are their own unique thing. I've owned my fair share but in the end, they aren't for me. I do appreciate them for what they are and enjoy seeing players like Brad Paisley rip away on one.

And FWIW, Mick hated those Kramers. They were heavy and uncomfortable to him. He would've rather had his black LP Custom back.

There is nothing quite like a good Telecaster. The simplicity of design and function has an elegance all its own.

The tone is also unmistakable. People who complain about "ice pick" or treble from the bridge pickup don't understand what a tone knob is for. You roll back that tone knob and thicken to taste. That bridge setting will also cut through a band mix like nothing else.

If you really want to get another tonal option for cheap, look into swapping the 3-way switch for a 4-way. It's adds the ability to have the two pickups wired in series and is great for a bit louder and thicker tone. Great for solos.

I love my tele builds. Some have a P90 in the neck, some a P90 in the middle and some with a humbucker in the neck. Teles seem to be my favorite also.
