I freaking love my PRS SE torero...

I'm thinking about picking up another one. It's that good. Changing the pickups was a PITA though. I still haven't got it in 100% working order.

I like my SE Custom 22 as well. What's the problem with your wiring? Push-pull pot giving you trouble?

Re: I freaking love my PRS SE torero...

I haven't really nailed down the reason for it, but the neck pickup is not producing volume. The bridge pickup is, but that is with the switch in the neck position. Even then, I have to roll the tone knob up all the way and place my pinky on the pickup mounting screw for it to really kick in. I think it is having ground issues among other things.

They are good guitars. Under gain with a great modern amp, they sound awesome. They arent going to win any tone awards with a vintage bassman, 65 Deluxe or JCM 800.

A friend of mine bought one, ditched the EMG pickups and dropped in a set of Nailbombs. That guitar sounds amazing

Re: I freaking love my PRS SE torero...

If anyone has any clue what the problem or problems might be with the wiring I would love to know.

Re: I freaking love my PRS SE torero...

I would pick one up in a heartbeat if it came in a hardtail model... As for your problem, I can't help, sorry.

Re: I freaking love my PRS SE torero...

If I had one, I would probably end up replacing the active electronics with something more versatile. I'm not sure what the woods in the guitar are, but I'd go for something like a Super Distortion or JB (or whatever works best in terms of tone), but something with a good amount of output that can still be rolled back.

I would install a really weak neck pickup.

I have a '59/custom hybrid with an A8 in the bridge and a '59n with an A4 in the neck. The EMGs that came with the guitar were not up to my standards.

Sounds like a KILLER combo!!! Cant wait to hear your take once its done!

Sounds like some grounding issues, for starters. I'd probably start from scratch on the wiring.
