i give up...advice!?

Re: i give up...advice!?

nah...it's not about that...he wants "more control" of the sound/mix and less "clutter" on stage.

Walk in with a marshall major and show him who's in control. :headbang:

I think I'd be able to hear it over here in martinsville.

Re: i give up...advice!?

Unless he's going to provide you an in-ear system, the monitor you'll need just to be able to play your guitar will cause just as much clutter as the BJ does.

Re: i give up...advice!?

Rocktron Utopia is a good preamp and nice gadget to try out.It fitts you budget too!
Or the old Tonelab Desktop. You can even buy one new for 150$

Re: i give up...advice!?

Behringer makes a similar speaker simulator/DI box called the Ultra-G. Who knows whether or not you'll agree that it "...so realistically emulates a 4 x 12" cabinet you may never need to mic speakers again", but for $35, I guess its worth a try. PartsExpress carries it.

I've tried it. Disagree. And it's super sensitive to static shock. I've got a dead one laying around to attest to that. And it's battery powered, with a knack for dying in the middle of a set.

I own one and I have three things to say about it:
P

O

S
I'd sell it but I have ethical concerns about implying that it's actually usable as a speaker simulator. :argh:

I also have a H&K Red Box that's not going up for sale either. It's actually useful and I won't part with it.

Re: i give up...advice!?

I like the Vox ToneLab. I have the tabletop version, and it sounds great. The price of the tabletop ToneLab and the foot controller is about equal to the price of the SE. The new LE costs less than the SE.

Also, check out some Tech 21 modelers. The SansAmp Classic looks like a stompbox, but it has a bunch of switches for shaping the sound. The GT2 is a simplified and less expensive version.

Lotsa truth to this statement.

I used a Hartke B30 bass combo as a guitar monitor, and had the broader mix in a shared monitor.

We use combos at low volumes, and mic them. NO, I don't get my distortion from Franklin, but from a Twin Tube Classic.
