Is there any difference between a strat neck and lets say a jackson neck?.....i'm doing a custom build, soloist style, i got a neck off a 80's kramer barretta, (maple-rosewood, 22fret) but at the bottem of the neck, at the bottem of the fretboard where it meets the neck pup, the bottem it is rounded, like a fender strat, and i see all other the guitars have it flat at the bottem, and i like that. since money is too tight, would you guys recomend me cutting it straight (professionally of corse) what sould i do????

As far as I know, "most" guitar makers stick to the strat way of life when it comes to neck pockets and heels. I've seen a few not so popular makers use the squared neck pocket. The big one I think of with a square neck joint is a telecaster. Most usually the neck pocket is rounded like the Kramer neck you have! (good call by the way) I've put Kramer necks on fender, jackson and older Ibanez bodies so you really shouldn't be having any problems. Maybe you could post a pic of the neck pocket?

A Strat-style neck will fit a Tele-Style neck pocket, but there will be a small gap. On the other hand a squared Tele neck will fit a Strat-style body, but it might not intonate properly. Warmoth has some good information about neck pocket compatibility on their site.
