Welp, I managed to snag Ross Chorus for the big JHS blowout sale. I think I got in just under the wire, as they were sold out minutes later. Anyone else manage to grab anything?

I was entering my payment info and it informed me that my phaser was taken out of my cart and they were sold out. Seems like an odd way to do things.

I am sure many people logged in to buy 10-20 pedals at midnight. The best guess is they are all on Reverb now with a healthy markup. People suck!

Nice score on the chorus.

it is a weird thing, but i think josh just wanted to get rid of them all quickly. he shoulda charged $99 and made a few bucks, they still would have sold out in minutes

Josh is an interesting fellow. JHS is built almost entirely around marketing and hype. That's not to put down his products or company, I've never played a pedal of his I didn't like and his design philosophies are pretty inline with mine. But the way he gets those products into your hand is top notch. I mean he managed to get like 6 months of backorders within one day of announcing and then releasing an unassembled surface mount Klone

He could have charged $120 in the first place and had a winner for a long time. But no one was going to spend $190 on a Ross, which back in the day was a budget pedal anyway.

people pay stupid money for vintage ross crap. hes such a pedal nerd, i think he really wanted to bring back the name but, as he pointed out, sales dropped significantly after the initial rush

I have the vintage OG ROSS Distortion. While it is very cool I rarely use it and have it mostly for nostalgia, it was my first distortion stomp. There is nothing special about it, there is no secret sauce and I have ABed it many times with my OG D+. They sound almost exactly the same with the ROSS being slightly smoother and with slightly less gain. I would like to stress slightly. If that is what you are looking at buy a new reissue D+ and back the gain off a bit, you will be 99% there

I was confused by this too. $99 would have made a lot of sense and, as you say, they still would have sold out. Not that I’m complaining about getting mine for 79. But it’s just a little strange. Then again, Josh is a strange dude lol.
