hey guys im back in a band and im going for an amp, i play swedish metal and classic rock stuff, i need one though with badass gain and sweet warm clean tube sound, this will be a halfstack, i also shred alot
beandip said:get a Peavey Transtube head. Alot easier to maintain and care for, but some of the best SS "real tube" sounds I've ever heard. I'm serious, if you were blindfolded and played this amp, you would think it was tubes. They can go from Fender clean spank and vintage overdrive, to modern Mesa gain, to the Bogner superdrive. Theyre alot for a little.

beandip said:Indie, I dont know what Transtube you've played, but all the ones that I've gigged with, and the one I keep at home are great. One of the best guitarists in town uses one, and I dont disagree with his tone.I know what I heard and what I heard wasn't anywhere near tube. It was brash, abbrassive and very metally. It's great for shredding, I'll give it that, but it sounds nothing like a tube amp, I won't give it that.
i agree with indie on this one, my friend had a transtube, doesnt sounds much like tubes at all. Studio, what's your budget?Indie P Bass said:I know what I heard and what I heard wasn't anywhere near tube. It was brash, abbrassive and very metally. That's cause you're not able to fill it's 150W mammothry! No, I don't think that's a real word, but you understand! I traded in my Triple for a Single and problem solved, a world's tonal difference. Great cleans - glassy, bright, and smooth. Dirty, well, we all know how Boogie's are!Studiobuddy said:im using a triple recto stack right now im my band its too muddy i want something like in flames tone the 5150 but a little more warm and plus the clean tone sucks on that so i need something with amazing clean tone warm jazzy smoothing creamy tone
