I got the Blackouts

I just got my guitar back from the repair guy. I had him put in the new Seymour Duncan AHB-1 Blackout Active Pickups. These have way more ****ing tone than EMGs. I absolutely love them. The distortion rules, the harmonics are out of this world, and the cleans are the best. They have more of a growl as compared to Emgs "fuzzy sound". I am not setup for clips, but feel free to ask any questions. I'll post pics when I get a chance.

BTW: I ordered them at GC last month.

Cool, what type of guitar (wood) and amp do you play through. I'm seriously debating between these and th Mustaines for the next Axe. I'd be using it for metal and hard rock, the types of tones from players that use EMGs already. (Slayer, Metallica, Wylde)

Re: I got the Blackouts

aren't the Mustaines made to sound like the jazz/jb set and the blackouts an improved version of the EMG 85/81 set?? If so, then why don't you just choose them by that criteria?? if i'm wrong, then i'm...wrong lol

I have an Ibanez RG120 (agathis) and a spider III. Even with this ****ty equipment I'm able to get the best metal tone I've ever heard.

No, you're 100% correct, it's choosing which tone I want... The active EMG style tone or the more natural tone the Mustaines have. :)
