Would you describe the Distortion as having more mids or less mids than the JB?

About the same, just without such a drastic high-mid spike.

Seymour describes the ceramic magnet as giving the highs a little more sizzle compared to the highs of an alnico 5 magnet in the same pickup. Would you agree or disagree?

I'd most definately agree. The ceramic is actually about twice the thickness of a normal ceramic, so that's what they mean by oversized.

How about lower mids? Which has more?

I can't tell exactly which has more or less, but the low mids are a bit more prominent in the JB.

The two are actually pretty similar, but I'd say the DD is tighter and more aggressive, overall.

to my ears the JB is more balanced overall than the distortion is.
the distortion has the fatter tone but in my all mahogany LP it was too much fat and sounded boxy or something like that?
the JB has a good eq shape for a all mahogany guitar.
and the jazz is a perfect compliment to the JB in this guitar as well.

No one has a right to say EMG's lack depth till they try the set i have in my platium pro.

Has to be one of the best sounding guitars ive heard. Itll do jazz, blues, 80's rock, 60's rock, modern rock, and many other things. They wont do country, but who the hell would want to play country with a B.C. Rich?

EMG's certainly DO NOT lack depth. just one listen to anything zakk wylde has recorded proves that thoery wrong!
in my zakk lester they have a unbelievable tone which is why i am considering putting them in my red LP custom.
the JB and jazz will stay in the BB but i still have not decided on what to put in the red LP?
right now it is a toss up between a custom/59 set or the emg 81/85 set
the distortion is being returned.

I agree. I hate the Distortion in the bridge of a LP style guitar. I prefer a Jazz JB or '59 JB set for something like that

On the other hand, a bolt on and/or 25.5" scale guitar I FAR prefer the distortion bridge in, with the same neck pickups.

Sure. I tried a Custom, Distortion, and JB in my ESP EC-1000. I always went back to the JB, the other too sounded kind of icepicky, lacking beef, and just kind of uninspiring, where the JB on the other hand was rich and deep sounding and had a singing quality.

on longer scale bolt on guitars I find both the JB and Distortion to work equally well but I prefer the distortion. It has a nice sizzle and crunch to it, and it really has the ideal tone for me in those type of instruments. The Distortion has nice midrange and singing quality in those instruments too. The JB and Distortion are by far my favorite Duncan bridge pickups.
