I have been thinking about doing an Ibanez Destroyer build and BOOM Warmoth comes out with this body. I was thinking a cherry sunburst with a TOM and a couple of WLHs in it. The bodies start at $205 so it would be less expensive and easier than restoring an old beat up Ibanez. A hardcore EVH fan could make a cool Eddie Shark out of one of these.

looks extremely awesome! digging the first one in terms of grain and color, wish I could have one like that. sad that I cant pay that kinda money

I was super excited and actually went to create a build, just to see how much it'd cost me, then I saw that the "24-fret" option wasn't clickable. Bummer...

I've always wanted an Explorer, but for the cost of a Warmoth build, if I was dead-set on one then yeah, I'd just go to Ebay and buy an Explorer.

That horn is just to skinny and long. Same complaint I had with the Explorer they had before. Dig the Iceman nod with the notch though.

That's a nod to the Ibanez "Destroyer"...I'll always have a place in my heart for those guitars (my first guitar was a beat up, early '80s Destroyer)

I see what you mean but I like it 'coz it follows a more symmetrical line. I'd take a blackburst.

Hey guys...Aaron Cheney here. I'm the marketing director at Warmoth. I'm the guy in the video above. I'm also the guy responsible for the redesign of the Nomad neck and body. During the design phase there were a lot of limitations. The Nomad body is basically just a slight tweak to our old X-Bird body. When the X-Bird was discontinued we had lots of body blanks and LamTop blanks left over. The new design had to fit within the perimeter of those blanks so they could be utilized. We also didn't want to have to reprogram any of the routs....particularly the control cavity rout. There were other limitations as well.

The Nomad body isn't supposed to be a direct knock-off of anything. In fact, I hope it's easily distinguished from an Explorer, Destroyer, etc. I feel like the design I came up with is a good blend of all my favorite designs of that type, while not being too close to any of them, and while working within all the limitations imposed on the design process.

As I mention in the video, one huge advantage of the Nomad body is that it is deep enough to accommodate a Floyd Rose trem. You won't find an Explorer that can do that.
