I hate to admit it, but I need a Roland Micro Cube

I just went over to my fiance's uncles house (that guy who I've said in the past has that ridiculously nice Epiphone Special II) and I can't get enough of that stupid little Roland Micro Cube amp. At talking volumes you can get some really nice singing tones on it. I had fun just on the Brit Combo setting getting bluesy overdrive and sparkling cleans from pick attack and volume adjustments on my Firebird.

The fact that these things can be picked up for around $100 just makes it that much better. It may sound like I've lost it, but there are a lot of nice tones that can be had in there and for practicing (which is what it was intended for) it's perfect. It'd be nice to have a small, SS amp to jam on at late hours (when the 80w tube Bogner Shiva is a "bit" too much) and this looks like the ticket.

Seriously, for the money, these things are too much fun. I've gotten nicer tones with that thing than I have with the Vox Valvetronix series and the like at low volumes. I mean, I know I shouldn't like it, but it has so many cool tones in there and it "feels" right - you get that compression and sag going on with the overdrive and it just rocks (in a blind test, I'd swear it was a tube amp). Anybody else dig it?

They're fun, versatile amps. It has several amp models and effects for such a small box of an amp. It can even get a convincing high gain metal tone.

I've played a party with one into the PA when there was no other amp, on the Brit Combo with the gain at half and the volume dimed...it sounded good.

I played one the other day and while it was fun I found that the brit model was nothing on a valvetronix AC30 setting and the effects are a little hard to use seeming you can't control many parameters other then that its fun to have lying around and sounds better then cheap solid state combos especially of the same size.

I played one on "black panel" with the gain on 8 or 9 and it worked pretty well for the jam.

Vox DA5 beats it for my ears..But it's allmost 50 dollars more expensive...

They're great practice amps! i don't have one, but I know a couple buddy's who do and they swear by 'em.

Not bad little things.. Had a friend run his cube through my avatar 2x12 for S's and giggles and it actually sounded pretty cool. I should really invest in a good practice amp like the cube to save my back from hauling a 4x10 up and down stairs every weekend.

I have it's big brother, the Cube 60. Both are really cool amps! The MicroCube is simply perfect for low volume playing, much better than my 60 really; you have to push this bastard to make it sound good. The Cube series is great. They did put a Cube 30X (I think that's the name) out now though, what's with it?

And no Chris, you haven't lost it. They're good amps!

I like the cubes best out of roland, l6 and Vox's practice amps, but I've not compared any at the same time (different retailers in my town). I'd like to line them up and figure out which one's best at some point, cos I could do with a practice rig for home.

Last week a went to see a former band mate play. About half way thru his set he spotted me in the audience. He came out to me with his wireless unit and threw me his Strat ,And yelled `It's in A' So I finished off the tune and got to fired off a few solo's while he was at the bar. I gotta say IMO I sounded pretty good.:cool3: Now I know he owns a 66'Vibrolux and a 59' Tweed Bassman RI. So I asked him which one he had with him? He said `Oh, No,Check this out...I got this Roland Cube thing I just started using.mg: So either I need my ears checked? Or those things sound pretty darn good.

I love my Cube 30. I use it as my 'main' amp at our vacation house. I have the Cube 30 and an Epiphone SG with Screamin' Demon bridge/Gibson neck p/u that I leave up there so I don't have to tote a guitar and amp each time I go...

a white one would be pimp...my daughter is finally getting half-way serious about really learning the guitar so she's asked for an amp for Christmas...i think this would be perfect and have the features on it to keep her interest level up!?

I won't buy one... simply because my ego is too big to admit that lil' thang sounds good! NOT... those things rock, I am going to get one and use it at gigs through a PA and play death metal to throw everyone off. That is fun.

I've used the cube 60 for a long time, mine is the one McLaughy mentioned up top. Its plently loud for small gigs and playing with a band. I would love to get a tube amp, but im far too broke to even consider it. Plus, being a college student who mostly plays in his dorm and records occasionally, it's perfect.
the AC-30 model is my fav, i run the gain full up and adjust the guitar's volume to clean it up, and run a bad monkey to give it more balls. the twin model is great too.
