I hate VHT...

...But I love Fryette! I hate the fact that VHT's name went to the crapper after Fryette left. This sucks for me. I'm in a financial bind. Had to replace a sewer line under my driveway, needless to say $3k later, I'm trying to recoup some funds. It's hard as hell to sell the VHT. Either people can't afford the funds to invest in a good tube amp (I'm not charging much either) or they are uneducated, see the name (VHT) and think post-Fryette. Then I'm left trying to explain the difference.

Re: I hate VHT...

ANYBODY that really knows about amps will know what happened with Steve and the name change.
Just advertise it as such and you will get the right buyers.
Just ignore the rest.
Craigslist.?
seems like whenever something "like this" happens, the old gear develops cult status and is in demand.
good luck

Yea CL and some local musicians who started a group on FB. A few of them actually know about the amp or have a Fryette themselves. It's def been a buyers market last year and some change. No one wants to spend much, but expect everything. The buyers either get them for a steal or offer some crap trade.

Re: I hate VHT...

I feel your pain.
I am still selling off inventory from a backline company.
A Lot of the time we just have to hold on to the gear and pray for better times. Otherwise, like you say, somebody will get the gear "for a song".
It is a Lousy time to sell gear, but it is a great time to buy it.

Re: I hate VHT...

I don't know much or should I say anything about most VHT amps but the special 6 and the ultra are both great amps for what they cost.

Re: I hate VHT...

What amp are we talking about here? I can't imagine a Pittbull not selling quickly, especially not if they hear it.

Special 6 and Ultra are new VHT (post Fryette) mine is Fryette. Not even in the same ballpark.

It's an awesome amp. Hate to sell it, but backs up against the wall.

Re: I hate VHT...

I was under the impression that the new VHT is a completely different company with no links to the original one.

The reasoning behind this was that Fryette sold the name to AXL guitars as he wanted to rebrand.

This may not be true however its just what I've heard from a VHT/Fryette endorsee

“Earlier this year, I consulted with AXL, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working with another company,” explains Fryette. “In a surprise move, AXL offered to buy the trademarked VHT brand name and logo, which, in turn, has allowed me to rebrand my company under my own name.”

Ya. Nothing in common.

Multiply that by 1000.
There are a BUNCH of great used amps for sale.
Every owner thinks just what you wrote in your post.

Re: I hate VHT...

Anyone who doesn't know that the Deliverance is a Fryette-built amp because it says VHT on the nameplate has no idea what they'd be buying anyway.

Hell, my early '90s Pittbull Classic was re-badged as a Fryette by the previous owner and I wish he hadn't done it. Why mess with it? Because someone might think your amp was less-expensive? They'll forget all about that once they hear it.
