I have a Question

I am looking for a device that will record music, that uses no data and that I will be able to run the music through my amp. Don't need anything fancy. Have looked at I pads but it looks like you need data? Can you record music from computer into I pad and then run through amp using no data.

Can you clarify what you are attempting to do and what the end goal is? What is the "music" in question? Your recording? Backing tracks? Commercially released songs?

Re: I have a Question

I am playing classic rock and blues I am looking right now to record music onto a device that I can plug into my amp just to play along with the song. So I would be able to record song from my computer into the device then run songs through my amp. I play in my man cave so there is no computer in there. So I just need something small and mobile. Recording songs just off internet.

Re: I have a Question

If the audio content is transferred from computer to handheld device as folders and files, it still qualifies as data. This is by far the easiest way to manipulate the music.

If the audio transfer is in analogue form, it will almost certainly suffer degradation. (Not necessarily a big deal.)

If your wi-fi hub has sufficient range, it ought to be possible to stream digital audio content wirelessly from your computer to a suitable receiving device in the man cave.

Zoom makes several relatively inexpensive recorder that are quite user friendly.

I will check them out. I checked them out and that's more of what I am looking for. Thanks for your input.

I appreciate your comments and will keep them in mind. I think the Zoom H1 handy recorder is more in line with what I am looking for.

A simple $35 MP3 player would be perfect...

Still curious what you mean by "record". Are you trying to capture streaming music? If so, I think a piece of software to capture it into MP3 and the above player would be a decent solution.

I just plug my phone into my practice rig.

Re: I have a Question

I bought a nice little bluetooth boom box. It gets loud enough to play backing tracks. Another option is a ⅛" to ¼" adapter and run your phone, but it will be mono unless you get a splitter.
