...another field that holds no appeal for me. I think it is safe to say that my next career will NOT be drum programming.

I finally found a program that is easy to use and readily transfers into Cakewalk, although it is limited.

But the time it takes to program the track is BORING to me.

Now, if I could just finish this drum track, maybe I could start recording the other instruments. And this frustration is for ONE song.

I cannot imagine doing this for any extended period.

I program drums ALL THE TIME, I enjoy it because although it sometiems can be a pain in the ass, when your writing a good song its good to see it all come together. Actually I just was programing for the last hour while writing a song, and its coming together well.

I was a dance music producer for a bit when I got frustrated with the whole music scene, playing out etc. It is all programming, point and click mouse work. YAWN! The end results can sound great but I missed playing so I don't do it much now.

You can still hear a lot of what I learned in the dance music genre though in my current project, my synth programming/sequencing is top shelf because of the years I spent pointing and clicking. :)

Re: I have discovered...

what are you guys programming drums with? I find it much easier to program them using single hit samples ....just curious what you guys are doing?

Re: I have discovered...

For real drums I use real players mostly, usually I sketch the ideas in using Stylus RMX or Battery and Logic's matrix editor then hire a drummer to replace my ideas. For dance drums I use Logic, Battery, Stylus, and anything else I can try or think of.

Re: I have discovered...

I use PC drummer pro, and depending what computer I'm on its the stock samples or imported DKFH samples.

Re: I have discovered...

I have been using LeafDrums. It's easy to use, but you are severly limited with length of pattern and samples.

That's why I love having a real drummer.
I used to love coming up with a goofy pattern on my drum machine, having a drummer reinterpret it, then manipulating and making loops out of that.

Real drums are the stuff.

Re: I have discovered...

I think I would not mind creating patterns on a drum machine with pads. Pseudo-drumming;)
