I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

Not that I only have one and that is has been missing in any way... I mean that I finally have found a pick that really suits me.. (I hope)

For a long time I used standard black Dunlop Nylon 1.00 mm and they worked fine. But I played for a while the pick got softer, and I would like to have the tip more sharp... The other I considered was Jazz 3.. Harder and with a sharper tip (if you know what i mean...) but these were to small for arpeggioes and such...

So... I searched on, and you know it`s really hard to part with your longtime pick.. just like breaking up a relationship you know... But anyway:

Pickboy Reefer Black 1.00 mm is the solution. Bigger than jazz 3, better grip, stiff, sharp tip and ok size... Actually I would like to have them a bit smaller, but hey hey are real nice! See:

Maybe I will find a different Pickboy pick.. Have never checked those out...

So the q is: Have you found YOUR ultimate pick?

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

you should try the pickboy "edge" carbon nylon....they are similar to the reefer but they are smaller

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

I've been playing the Orange Tortex lately, but "my" pick is .73 mm Dunlop Nylon picks... stupid store needs to get some in for me

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

Dunlop Jazz III's. Curiously, I don't really like them when they are new. I much preffer them when I've played them for a while and the point is rounded. I also chew on them a bit when I'm alternating between fingers and pick, and they feel very nice and grippy after they're "broken in". :burnout:

I've used Fender jazz picks (heavy) for years. They give you great control, especially when using circular picking.

Once I tried the Dunlop 1.14mm Ultex picks, I couldn't look back. They are perfect for my big hands. They feel great, last extremely long (when I found it could withstand heavy pick scrapes, I knew how great it was) and give the best response I could imagine from a pick. Notes are articulate and very balanced, it's really amazing.

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

am I allowed to have several picks? I have 3, depending on my mood.

my first love are the Clayton beveled triangle picks, .80 mm, I like those on bass a lot.

My second was The pickboy reefer picks, 1.00 mm. Can't find 'em anywhere, and when I do, they're rediculouslyexpensive (as far as picks go), so I never want to buy 'em.

Now I'm onto the Dunlop Tortex Sharps, 1.35 mm (the black ones.) Kick ass. Been using them for everything lately.

end story.

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

Dunlop 2mm gators, fo eva!

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

Dunlop Jazztone 205s are great for when I want to play fast without much attack. I love the sound of Tortexes though, so I should try the Jazz Tortexes.

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

Yellow tortex

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

Dunlop orange tortex. But I'm still out to lunch on what to use for my acoustic. I need something loud, yet good for strumming.:(

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

I use just my fingers a lot, but when I use a pick, I use tortex ... yellow for electric, orange for acoustic

lately, I've been trying the Ultex, and they're nice

years ago, Ernie Ball made a great multi colored celluloid pick, but they quit making that one :(

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

Celluloid picks are great when you put a lighter to 'em. Just don't hold them in your hand when you do it, use pliers or something haha.

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

Dunlop Ultex .73's for me. The only problem is they are hard to find when you put them down or drop them. I would like to try the 1.0 thickness, but nobody seems to stock them locally.

Re: I have finally found my pick!! What about you?

I just bought a couple Dunlop Gator Grip .96s, and so far I really dig 'em, but my mainstay for the last 10 years has been the green Tortex (.88).
