I Have Just Ordered A Set Of Seymour Duncan Vintage Phat Cat Silencers

Sounds great! It'll be lots of fun to wire. Interested to hear your thoughts on the Silencers and the guitar kit too

I've seen these kits for a while and wondered how they manage to evade Gibson's heavy hand going after lookalikes like the Stew Mac kits they shut down.

Precision Guitar Kits is based in Canada. The dimensions and wood work are exceptional. I have already built two of their kits and I'm very happy with the results.

Those turned out great. I know they're in Canada. I'm not a big Gibson person. I just thought even companies outside which sell into the US were purposely not copying Gibson body shapes too exactly now to avoid legal fights.

I'm seriously glad that that isn't true. These guitars are almost exactly as the Gibson brand3d guitars. Precision Guitar Kits also manufacture strat and tele parts. Check them out.

I mean . . . they're not even selling a guitar, they're just selling bits of a guitar. I figure even the courts have to recognize that the average consumer could tell the difference between a finished Les Paul and an unpainted Les Paul body that runs the same dimensions.

Regardless of what any of us thinks it's a real thing. Gibson shut down Stew-Mac selling kits already. Stew-Mac left the pages up. "We are no longer allowed..."

Warmoth stopped making exact Gibson headstock and body shapes for a while now for the same reason.

Fender even shut down Stew-Mac selling Strat and Tele neck templates with the Fender headstock shapes too..not even actual parts..Because the headstock shapes are trademarked.

I think these are all situations where legal action was threatened and then an agreement was reached outside of courts, as opposed to actual lawsuit judgments, but I could be wrong. This doesn't mean I agree with these things..
