So I finally finished installing an effects loop in my JCA20H, and I can't believe how much I've missed it. Installing it was such a hassle, especially drilling the holes for the send and return, but I finally got it done and sounding right. I may at some point need to put in a trimpot for the send and/or return levels, but right now the straight-through wiring seems to be working fine.
I'd post pictures, but they're not interesting. It's a board, a bunch of wires, and a new set of jacks in the back of the amp. What's the best way to label the send and return jacks so they look professional? Some type of printout that I tape or glue to the back of the amp? Suggestions?
By the way, it's really made me appreciate chorus as an effect over the past couple of days. When I play it on clean tones, it sounds heavenly, but when I play it on heavy distortion tones, it sounds downright evil. Really interesting way to use it. Now I might need to pick up another digital delay for high-gain leads. The delay on my H2O is good, but not great.
Enough musings. Buy an amp with a loop. Don't put it in yourself.
