I have repaired my first pedal!

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
Almost....

But thanks to all who contributed. (Whoever you were).

Got a new switch (at radio shack, all by myself)
Dremeled out the housing
Wired it up

And everything works - with one minor issue.

The new switch is just a touch too weak to push the pedal switch cover up after it is dis-engaged. A minor mechanical fix like a piece of spring or a smushy thing under there and it will be fine.

Stay tuned!

Re: I have repaired my first pedal!

I did it! It works! YAY ME!!!!!!!

I just stuffed some stiff foam up under the pedal and adjusted the screws a little - Win!!!

And here they all are in all of their 80's glory:

I logged a lot of miles with that Stack-in-a-box (pretty good distortion, IMO) and that simple little Chorus (which is awesome sounding) back in the day. They did Scorpions, Priest, MAiden, Billy Idol, and a lot more...It was sentimental to a degree, but I always look for these boxes on the bay. I got the Flanger for $20 + I had to buy the switch for like $3.

LAtely I've been using a lot of Flanger. I'm digging this four knob beast. It can do from Chorus to pretty deep sounding.

Re: I have repaired my first pedal!

What type of switch did you have to get for it? A lot of those 80's pedals have fet switches like boss pedals and the Shack here rarely has anything other than some resistors and diodes. Mostly cell phones.

Congrats on the repair! I've always enjoyed tinkering with pedals.

I didn't wire up the power (there was none to wire!). I had to make the hole in the body slightly larger.

The problem was that when the pressure plate was screwed down all the way, you could press it on, but then you couldn't release it. So I just loosed the screws and stuffed a little strong foam under the pad to help lift the pad when releasing the catch. It's working like a champ.

Definitely not the same as the Boss on/off. Different creature.
