I bought this guitar for $ 610.69 w / case, after I worked on a Hot Shot Crew, fighting fires .
This guitar went thru all my up, down, joys and sadness .... it is my pride and joy !!!!.
I am very attached to it emotionally too, but Family First !!!!

Due to a Family Medical emergency, I have to sell it to Guitar Center . It is not all original .
According to the Reverb Index , it should sell for 8 to 9 thousand .
It's been modified with Schaller Actives, a Wilkinson Roller Bridge, got routed for a battery compartment, has a Schaller tailpiece with fine tuners and has battle scars from going thru stages on all lower 48 US States, 6 Canadian Provinces ,4 Mexican States and is 44 years old .

Will the modifications, lower its value ?

Change everything back to the original, let people know about the compartment mod, and do something about the logo that's supposed to be on the truss rod cover.

Then maybe you can ask for whatever imaginary amount of money Reverb came up with.

DO NOT include that you're selling it for emergency reasons, or your inbox is going EXPLODE with lowballers.

Yah, definitely restore it as close to its original state as possible.
AFAIK, block-inlay Vees were only made for a few months in late '79 and early '80.
I've seen claims that just 30 were built, so yours could be very collectible.
People will accept battle scars but if the pickups & hardware aren't original that lowers the value a lot..

79?

It is RARE, and VINTAGE with ORIGINAL T-Tops! (if you have them...)

Easily worth 2 grand. It's basically a Kirk Hammett, except real.

A savvy buyer knows they can source the original parts and bring the guitar back to spec. Most of the mods seem very reversible. The only mod that might turn off buyers looking to restore it would be the routing for the battery box.

Also, remember that GC will give you 60% of what they will sell it for, so you’re general better off selling it to a private party even if it’s at a significant discount.

That said, sometimes it’s just the easiest.

I feel your pain i had to sell one of the nicest LP's ive had after getting hit with a brake job & wifes medical bills.
I survived but that doesn't mean i liked it.
My wife comes first, part of being an adult.
