I hope none of you waste your money on Monster Rock cables...

Re: I hope none of you waste your money on Monster Rock cables...

I refuse to support any company that talks to me like that:

In Klotz and Neutrik I trust. Good quality and no babble!
I dont know what any of that stuff means but it sounds good ;) what is the klotz and neutrik sales pitch like?

Re: I hope none of you waste your money on Monster Rock cables...

cool, glad they work for you, I dig that you make them. I tend to be a buy and hire guy and dont tweak much on my own except for mixing and amp knobs.

I am talking about a span of 20 years of my guitar playing and me moving from very warm to very cool places and being hard on cables

the warranty thing is just too cool with some of these cables. I have only had one or two bad monster cables, and lots of them in other brands and the cheapo no-name brands.

Thanks! ;)

That's something I didn't consider to be honest. Changing temperatures. It is generally stable here in Southern Kalifornistan all-year round.

Hmm. No pictures of the inside of the cable. I suspect Monster is just lifting buzzwords from the marketing materials of some other company like MIT or Transparent that uses actual networks in their cables.

I dont know engineering specs, does someone have a comparison of cables?

Re: I hope none of you waste your money on Monster Rock cables...

the idea that frequencies travel on certain (smaller strands / larger strands / solid cores) better is pretty obvious marketing. I think electrons move mostly on the edge of the copper wires anyway, and you certainly can't get only certain frequencies to travel only on certain wires, without using a crossover filtering system.

I don't like gold contacts. Most of the jacks in our equipment are NOT gold plated, and when you have two different types of metals in contact with one another for long periods of time, bad things happen. So, why use gold? It's actually all marketing BS. You never hear about gold pins on your computer's CPU... it's just the proper application of it.

97% copper braid is OK, but for the price I think it should be 101%

and WTF is microfiber doing off the couch???

Here's Mogami's marketing / technological advvancements about their cable... http://www.mogamicable.com/additional/technology.php

Re: I hope none of you waste your money on Monster Rock cables...

I have a few Monster cables. I use them in between my head and cab and obviously this is a speaker cable. I also have a few instrument cables that I keep in my gig bag as a spare. My pedalboards are wired with George L cables and I have two additional George L's that I connect board to guitar and amp to board. All works well.

cool, science is fun especially when it works, I like thinking about it ;) maybe Ill get the super expensive mogami cable or something one day, it seems pretty legit but for a price. I have some 20 foot cheaper monster cable that I could go with mogami $170 cable instead...

this monster pro 1000 cable does seem to be better and I used the warranty and it worked easily at GC, not that much more $ but ya maybe I should upgrade one day...

^ People seem to be very good at vilifying others for what they choose to spend their money on, but when it comes time to defend their own purchases, there is infinite justification on tap. The judgmental attitudes, the hypocrisy and negativity.

hmm...human nature ...people seem to really like mogami cable, I prolly will upgrade and buy a platinum one at some point; saving up for other stuff right now

there is no justification for my purchases, this is just a hobbie for me, I dont make $$ doing it except beer money and dont plan on breaking even

For $24.60 & cheaper elsewhere, this is supposed to be one of their top end products. They are quite durable since I've been using them. No unusual marketing around it either. Sounds good too. The outer cover isn't braided so some might not prefer it I guess. But for those on a budget looking for a good quality cable with lifetime warranty(GC is supposed to offer the no hassle exchange thing while not SamAsh I think for PW), this is a really good choice. Atleast give it a try at that price :)

Re: I hope none of you waste your money on Monster Rock cables...

Consider the warranty 1st. Take your Monster Cable into ant Guitar Center for a no questions replacement, Thats much /most of the value right there! I use Monster Studio Pro 1000. Solid cable priced at what its worth. its 100 bucks for 20 feet. A Solid value IMO.
Besides that, my Monster Cables sound great, and last longer than any cable I have used.

The Mogami stuff is equally s good, but c'mon. its all hype! Its cheap cable , at ;least the Gold is, and I can't see why the Platinum would be that much more x'pesnsive. I'm talking 99 censt a foot for Mogami Gold wire .

I do like the noisless Neutrik ends, and lets face it, I couldn't solder a cable onto a jack if my life defended on it. Ive tried..tried and tried..that ****s EVER gonna happen for me..

Re: I hope none of you waste your money on Monster Rock cables...

I forgot to bring a cable to practice once and had to borrow on of my lead guitarist's monster rock cables.
the sound had so much more clarity when compared to my 10$ lazer or whatever cable that I decided it was time for an upgrade. at first I was going to get some monster rock's but I decided to get a dimarzio braided cable because I think it looks better, and they were priced practically the same. now I have problems with my rig sounding too damn bright, but the dimarzio's held up quite well through practice/gigs while the monster rock had a bad jack after half a year of use.
so yeah, though they sound nice to my ears I won't be buying monster's any time soon, if I ever feel the need to upgrade my cables again I'll probably go with evidence's.

Re: I hope none of you waste your money on Monster Rock cables...

That's not clarity in the true sense of the word, it's hyped up non-linear frequency response.

You're confusing hype with pricing. All those cables at GC are way overpriced, but they (Mogami) know their competition and reputation, hence they price accordingly.
