I came across this Ibanez Talman the other day and just had to buy it. I've actually never really heard of these models before, they are from the mid 90's and apparently while being well reviewed, didnt sell well. Maybe they were a little before their time, as I think given the popularity of more retro looks these days they would of sold far better.
I just couldn't resist it though for $300. Nice aged white/cream color with a red sparkle/tortise-ish guard, 3 Kent Armstrong lipstick pups and very cool sort of Jag looking body style but at a savings of about $1200 over what similar looking Jag would cost me!
I'm not really sure what the body is made of even. Some I've read are a type of MDF and others are wood depending on the year.
Its a pretty nice sounding guitar for the money though. I mainly bought it for looks, but its got a cool tone thats sort of a cross between a strat and a tele.
With the pups in the middle positions it gets a bit of a strat quack, but overall is a bit thinner and brighter and similar to a tele.
You dig ?
