I just flipped a Dimebucker. . . .

After reading about Dimebag switching his L500XL over, I had to try it with my Dimebucker. WHOA!!!!!!!! I can't believe I took this long to try this!!!

This goes out to ALL of the people who say the dime is too "shrill," "Buzzsaw," "weedeater," "Icepicky," Etc.! Doing this makes a WORLD of difference! The Dime sounds HUGE, Thick, responsive, and plain out SICK. It juices the tone from any amp into the "dime zone" of tone.

Try this for yourself people!

Re: I just flipped a Dimebucker. . . .

So you just flipped it so the side that had been closest to the bridge is now closer to the neck??
I wonder what the difference is?

Exactly. It makes soooo much difference!

NO it is not reverse polarity!! You can only change the phase by flipping the leads (hot with ground) or the magnet (south with north)!!

So you didn't flip it, you just rotated the pickup 180*. If it sounds different then it obviously means that the Dimebucker uses unbalanced coils.

Anyone care to shed some light on the subject?

the only downside is that it probably looks rediculous with upsidedown logo's :smack:

J/K means "Just kidding" ;)

Re: I just flipped a Dimebucker. . . .

I thought the current Dimebucker was already setup totake this into account and it did not need to be done?

I would like to know this as well.

The dimebucker could only get better by doing "anything" to it IMO! When something is "rock bottom piss poor sounding" the only way is up! LOL!!!!!!

Re: I just flipped a Dimebucker. . . .

I've never heard of this mod. And honestly, I can't understand what it could be doing. Are you sure there's a sonic difference? It doesn't make sense to me that there would be a difference.

There is a substantial difference, Evan. Once flipped, the Dime has a totally huge, warmer, over-all meatier tone. I can't explain it either. Try it.

It actually sounds closer to an actual L500XL. I've heard clips of the L500XL, and the dime comes very close when flipped. I'm going to order a L500XL, so expect me to compare them soon.

Eh... If the coils are the same, why would the tone be any different...? I don't know what difference it'd make relative to wiring and magnet orientation but I doubt it even matters. I don't get why there even is a difference... It makes no logical sense. With a pickup where there are slug poles and scew poles I can understand, but dual blades of the same material eh...

Maybe the coils on mine arn't the same. I wasn't expecting a difference, but I got one - a huge one. Perhaps my pickup was a defect gone good?

Re: I just flipped a Dimebucker. . . .

This is easy to explain - you've accidently got the pup split. Before you had the coil closest to the bridge. Now you have the other one. Tap on both blades gently, with a small screwdriver, and verify that their both on. (And of even volume, to see whether one might be internally shorted.)
