I just got my Nomad back

My Boogie got a quad of JJ 6L6GCs and a Shaguang 12AX7 in V1. This is in my Mesa Boogie Nomad 100

Oh my God! This is so amazing. Apparently the old tubes had run their race. I could tell.....they were getting much less emotive. That and one blew :laugh2:

The sound is much more thick and deep. The distortion is also much tighter....possibly due to the shaguang. Much more.....awesome sounding :D

Check out my "How's my Tone" post in the Tips and Clips section for some clips. Rate me too.

Any other success with said tubes? I'm curious.

Re: I just got my Nomad back

In my opinion, that tube set is about as good as it gets for most amps. JJ power tubes are excellent tubes, just as good as most 'new old stock.' Chinese Shuguang 9th Generation pre tubes have night tight gain, and will tighten up most preamp sections.

If anyone ever wants their channel switching highgain amp to hit it's full potential, JJ power tubes and Shuguang Chinese pre tubes are the way to go.
I think Groove Tubes calls that tube the 12AX7C, but you can buy them even cheaper without the GT label. Sometimes, I see people selling them on Ebay for 4 for $25 in plain white boxes.
