i was surfing youtube the other night for phaser clips and i came across this gem:

i'm curious what current amps have this type of tone, i don't recall any clips of the EVH III sounding anything like this...

Re: i just luv this Marshall tone

looks like a hotrodded JMP late 70's MKII master lead to me.
Not sure if it could be a mid 70's Superlead?
I have a JMP MKII Master lead MKII, and it looks identical, except you see the toggle all the way to the left? ..mine dont have that, so thats why I figure its a modded JMP>
Mine doesnt sound like that totally brown either so..

Re: i just luv this Marshall tone

Looks modded as their is a control where an input is which I have seen on lots of modded JMPs online.

Re: i just luv this Marshall tone

JMP is a great amp. You could always get one of those. :)

Also check out Fargen amps, they get this tone. As does Bumbox.

Re: i just luv this Marshall tone

If you want a simmilar sound form a boutique amp, deff look into Goodsell amps !

They ROCK !!!

... THANKS!!!! ya that is the polarity switch, and the other knob is a push pull that adds a gain stage and very much adjusts tone as well. Thanks again.....

;)

Re: i just luv this Marshall tone

I still prefer this Marshall tone :

. . . to each his own :D

Re: i just luv this Marshall tone

The thing about this thread that is odd to me is that almost all older Marshalls sound very similar to that...maybe not the same but there is nothing raelly "special" about that tone...it's just an old Marshall.

Re: i just luv this Marshall tone

Sounds good. Noisy, but good. I think with marshals you need to put up with some noise to get the tasty sounds.

Re: i just luv this Marshall tone

I love the tone in the first vid. I think I wanna have its baby.

Re: i just luv this Marshall tone

Ceriatone amps sound good to me. They seem to get a decent amount of recognition too. $885 for the head doesn't sound too bad to me.
