I was considering that but my parker has no fretboard inlays and even though I don't really get lost on the fretboard but it makes it easier. Plus I bought this guitar for the long haul. Especially since carvin's resale is crap. I figured I'd rather have dot inlays rather than no inlays at all. This is one guitar I don't see myself getting bored with and reselling to get something else like I do with all of my guitars.

Very cool! I really really like those Carvins, althought I figured you would have gone with a Wilkie on this. But since it's for the long haul, maybe not?

I plan on building a warmoth strat project this year with a wilkinson so I decided to not go that route for this guitar. Fixed bridge = less hassle + more beef and sustain. I wanted something that would work equally well for jazz and funk as hard rock and metal.

Although, for the price I got this for, if I REALLY like this guitar when I get it, I might just order another model like this one with a wilkie and some other different things. Especially since I priced my warmoth build to be around a grand after cost of parts, finishing, and everything.

Plus I have my Parker. The parker trem is one of the best designs ever I think. It has the range of a floyd, ease and smoothness of a wilkinson, and you have the option of setting it to bend down only where it'll rest against a stop screw. Which is nice because it increases sustain and when you do unison bends and such the bridge won't lift, sending other strings out of tune. It's one of the things I like the most about the guitar.

Ah, I was under the impression that the Parker was going due to it's compound radius and body wood. My bad. Have fun with this, it'll kick a ton of ass.

well it's definately DIFFERENT. Not bad at all. The parker is a shred machine too. It definately has a different type of vibe to it, but it's definately one rockin' guitar. Especially with the pickups I have in it now (my sig). I went tapfest style and whammy crazy last night on it and now I'm not so sure I could give it up, or if I should. Either way it's going to be my main guitar for at least a few months until I get that Carvin and/or those ESP's are back in stock again and I can order another.

That's great news! I'm very excited for you! Now, we all want a full hands on review when that sucker gets home... Those guitars are absolutely stunning.

Definately an excellent choice. Let us know how you like it when it arrives.

those things got a very good review in GP ... I think Carvin's reputation must've gone up a couple notches in a lot of peoples' minds when that model came out

BTW, the Carvin factory is just up the road a few miles from my work. Our owner is a wood worker. He was up there to buy speakers and was pretty impressed with what he saw.

without a doubt. I'll get some clips up too. I plan on putting a JB bridge and Jazz neck in it though with chrome pickup rings. I never did dig those carvin pickups.

Sweet. I check the Carvin site every now and then, and that model, the 7 string and the Holdsworth all catch my eye. Shame they're almost impossible to find in the UK :(

Engraved with my name :)

My Parker has stainless steel frets and I also asked around the carvin forum and based on my own experiences and opinions of others, stainless steel doesn't make a guitar brighter really. If it does, the difference is negligible. After using stainless frets, I can't go back to using normal ones, they just feel inferior.

Re: I just ordered a Carvin CT3M California Carved Top

very sweet.... carvin is 1 of those brands you kinda forget about... then after you play 1 you wonder why they arent more popular. Do they offer many neck profile options?
