I like GHS Boomers, sorry!

Not sure why so many slam GHS strings, saying they suck among other things. I just installed a fresh set on my McCraty and still love 'em. I am trying other strings but I have no issues with GHS. I hear poeple say they corode and lose tone fast, go flat.....etc. Mine don't. We are all different.
Boomers have treated me well!

I like that I can get them in any gauge I want.

They get slammed on a lot of forums.

Just had to say that.

good job on praising GHS lol I have no problem with the Boomers either... need to try out another set though it's been like a year.

Re: I like GHS Boomers, sorry!

For the most part, all I've ever used are GHS and EB's. I've been using the Slinky's for the past few years, but I may have to give the GHS's annother run.

Re: I like GHS Boomers, sorry!

I was pleased with GHS boomers. I now play elixir polywebs though.

Re: I like GHS Boomers, sorry!

I used to always play EB Power Slinky's. I've always avoided GHS because "Boomers" always sounded silly to me. I ended up trying them because at the time non of the local stores carried any other string brands that had .013 guage sets.

Now they're my main string (I have them on two of my three guitars). I like how bright they sound, and they last reasonably long too.

It's all good

It's all good

Some folks like hot pickups, others like mellower pickups. Some folks like higher gain than others. Some folks dig nickel wraps while others groove on stainless steel.

I haven't played Boomers but I haven't dissed 'em either. Personally, I'm digging my fairly obscure nickel-wound strings but that's my deal. If Boomers work for you, congrats on finding something that helps you find your voice. :)

Re: I like GHS Boomers, sorry!

ive tried every major brand except elixir and DR, and boomers were my favorite so i stuck with em. now ive been using em for years and i dig em

Re: I like GHS Boomers, sorry!

I've not tried them yet but I don't like Steel strings all that much... or are the boomers nickelplated steel? I hear the Nickel Rockers are excellent, I'll have to try those.

Re: I like GHS Boomers, sorry!

I tried the boomers and could've done without them. They were ok, but not my cup of tea. The nickle rockers on the other hand, are friggin awsome. Too bad my local shop stopped carrying NR's. I just ordered a set of Everly B-52's in 11's, so I'll see how that goes.

You should give DR's a shot. A really solid string in my opinion.

I switched from Ernie Ball's to GHS due to excessive hand sweating. Then last year when it seems everyone on this board started to buy up Everly's, I thought I'd give them a try. And I've stuck with them for the most part (DR's on occasion), especialy the nickel set which seem to last forever.

lol! Did you tune your strings more than once?? There shouldn't have been a problem with the strings at all. Well if you've been using D'Addario for 20 years don't let anything else steer you away from your sound!

d'addarios did that to me on a couple occasions actually. put em on, tune up, SNAP! i think it was once on the A and once on...ahh i cant remember. but anyway its safe to say i havent used d'addarios since. which is fine with me cause i dont like the rainbow ball ends either :laugh2:

Re: I like GHS Boomers, sorry!

I actually like the rainbow balls. I think it gives it a little "spice" to your guitar, but hopefully not in a "spice" girl sense. I always said that I never liked D'addario's, but just recently I found out that the only D'addario's that my local shop carries are stainless steel. I've never ever liked stainless steel strings, so that would clear that up. Now, if I could just get ahold of some nickle D'addario's.

Re: I like GHS Boomers, sorry!

I've tried the gambit of strings out there, but always end up with the Boomer TNT's on my guitars.

Re: I like GHS Boomers, sorry!

Havent tried the boomers but i have played the GHS Super steels, my favourite guitar string! I have ordered GHS strings for my upcoming P-bass! I'll tell you how they are if somebody is interested

Re: I like GHS Boomers, sorry!

GHS are one of the few electric strings i still havent tried...

i oughta get a set soon to see what all the fuss is about
