Sounds like the pickup is too close to the strings
My experience says thats the ice pick zone
1/8 inch below the strings is the sweet spot
I dont know what most of that stuff is. Isnt the Timmy a boost? Does it have a tone knob?
These must be first world problems.
The JB is a well loved lead guitar pickup for rock and metal.
I love the JB for both.
It might need some adjustment on your amp
He's not having it with the cheap solutions that will work, he's exchanging the pickup.![]()
Practising with in ears can be tricky, I have tinnitus so... Eclipsed, what other guitars and pickups have you played in the same setup?

The ec401vf came out in 2009. The 400vf I have is from 2008, and I think they meade the 400vf from 06-08, or 07-08.
I wondered if the 36ths were a better suite for it over the JB/59.
And I totally agree about th9em being les paul killers
I love the whole EQ and voicing of the 36ths. I just wished they made a version without the Airbucker thing. I feel they're almost perfect, just would like a bit more push. I do wonder if the whole Airbucker thing affects the EQ a lot to the point of where being de-aired would just transform them into radically different pickups.I couldn't tell you if they are better or not. The JB, like it or not, always imparts that sound.
The 36ths are more hot vintage than hot rod, if that makes sense.
The neck is a thing of beauty. The bridge is a middy keranggg! machine. Once you eq to get the neck pickup sounding great, you're done. It allows the bridge to do its thing.
Most adjust more bass in for the bridge to balance it out, and then complain the neck is muddy.
Many people dig the JB with an A2.
I've never tried it, but I'm not sure I'd like it. I'd be afraid the JB would be left without any high-end in it at all.

So they'd sound more A5? It would seem I'd like them, LOL.You can hear and feel the differences between the norton and air norton.
Guys have installed a metal bar in the gap to de air the pickups.
my guess is that the 36ths would have more output, more immediate attack, and a tonal difference similar to the one between the pearly gates and the PG+.
