I love the top on this Les Paul

The Lester on the left is the USA made Les Paul manufactured for the Japanese market. Japanese market demands more exotic guitars and American manufacturers do special runs to satisfy the Asian market. I have seen some wild Japan market ESPs and Ibanez, this is the first time I have seen a Les Paul. Sorry for the crappy cellphone photo.

I'm liking the lemon a bit more.
The cherry would be considered 'flawed' in both grain and flame by most western players.

This is the shop near where I am staying. I should have grabbed more pictures they had a ton of beautiful guitars. There was Peter Frampton custom Shop next to the lemonburst. There was also a ton of funky Fenders.

Dude, that's a great shop!! I'm an hour north of there. That Paul is much nicer in person, even though I'm not a cherry burst guy. Enjoy your stay

I must be the exception.....for me the odder and more varied the better.
The lemon has what I call an 'accountant top'. Looks like the flame has been drawn on with a ruler and to precise geometric scale. Its for the human eye that can only tolerate nature within very limited boundaries.

The lemon burst is interesting - don't know that I've seen that many tops where vertical AND horizontal stripes are so clear at the same time.

Have to say that the cherry burst would be the one for me out of these two.

I am not a regular burst LP fan as much, but I like that top, too.
