I made me a quitar

Re: I made me a quitar

Have you applied finish yet? I'd go for a natural gloss.

No - as I said it's in bits now and off for painting. It's getting a rather fancy 3-shades-of-blue paint job with a tight black burst around the edges. Something like this:

That guitar looks awesome. I've heard very good things about those Hipshot trems and that Sustainiac pickup is way too cool. The Steinberger are without a doubt, the most accurate tuners available. All in all, it looks like a very good build. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it!

SPorky McGuffin! I love that name!!!!!

Looks awesome - solid, sturdy, smooth. Very cool. I dig the natural look.

Re: I made me a quitar

wow

that's some piece of work

didn't know you were a 7-string guy

I wasn't!

I'd never found one quite right - I like trems but I'm not keen on Floyds so my production guitar options were pretty much zero. I've got a couple of long-scale guitars already but missed the higher notes without having to go right to the end of the fretboard.

I've been playing with a looper a lot recently and the extra low notes will be most helpful.

Re: I made me a quitar

That is a funky combanation of features. I've always been curious about Steinberger tuners and their crazy ratio. It seems like they would be useful for someone who doesn't change tunings much.

Re: I made me a quitar

Very nice work. Love the color choice. Can't wait to see her done.

Now that Summer's about over, I'll be getting my lazy butt out to the shop to finish a couple project guitars.

Re: I made me a quitar

My name is Luís and I approve this instrument.

Re: I made me a quitar

Good job! That one really stands out from the crowd. I'd like one like it but I doubt I'd be able to play it: 27" scale length and smallish hands don't go together very well :lmao:

Re: I made me a quitar

It's really not that much of a change, honest - the space between the first and second frets is the same as between the nut and first fret on a Fender scale guitar. Actually slightly smaller. So only the first fret is wider than you're used to, if you look at it that way.
