I modded my GE-7...and wish I didn't

Hello all! Ever since modding my crybaby I've been just waiting to do another mod project, so I decided to tackle my BOSS GE-7. I did the Monte Allums mod on it yesterday. And in all honesty, it did what it said...but it turns out thats not what I want.
It reduced noise which was great, made some of the bands more focused and made the pedal transparent...and thats wherE I went wrong.

I LOVED the way my GE-7 coloured my tone a bit, it smoother out the distorion while adding a nice open growl to the sound. Now it doesnt do neither, but acts more like if I was changing my EQ on my amp.

PLAN: At first I was bummed since I loved the solo sound it gave me BUT...since I'm doing a few projects now (including a late 70;s-80's cover band in the works!) I realized a transparent EQ will actually be very useful. So my plan is to keep the modded one as is and buy a used ge-7 off a guy intown (who I hope still has it!). That way I can have my smooth singing lead tone back WHILE having a transparent EQ which just opens me up to more sounds! Overall this project went from being a bummer to being something positive.

With that said, the Monte Allums mod was very easy to do and did what it said it would! Unfortunatly it took away my favourite thing about the GE-7, while adding something that I can also find useful. I just hope the other one I'm goign to buy will have the same vibe as my first one pre-mod.

i love the GE7 for the tone but the noise it lets go makes it useless for me and my higher gain stuff....

anyone make a good EQ pedal without the noise?

Well today I played it again and it sounded pretty **** good, but I'm still gunna run a 2 EQ setup...much more versatile. I'll choose which one I like best for my lead tone and set the other one for more versatility overall (and no volume boost).
